I've wondered that too. If the writing from Yashahime had been better, they'd be off. They just left them on for cheap comedy. Personally I think Inuyasha can take them off whenever he wants to but he doesn't because they are his only physical link to Kagome.

Ehhh.. you may be right my dear, the thing is also that the beads are some kind of iconic for Inuyasha’s character design, so maybe this could be one of the reason why they left them on..btw yeah I had to think about a reason not to take them off and this was a very sweet one 😭😍♥️♥️♥️

I agree that they are iconic but so were a lot of things. Miroku's wind tunnel, Kagome's school outfit, Sesshomaru only having one arm. All of these changed over time. I think it would've been great for Inu/Kag's relationship if she had taken the beads off or at least let him know that she would take them off whenever he wanted. Or if they lost their power and he just wears it because he wants to. 🥰 I mean he never really needed them. He became a better person because of Kagome's good heart. Not because she could slam him into the ground. I do love how you're showing it here. It feels so right
