Times hadn’t been good for Siraan. As a small-time thief, card shark andgeneral mischief maker, it usually wasn’t very hard for him to find someone tocheat out of their hard-earned money, but recently, he had ended up strandedin the very outskirts of the country. Folks in these rural areas generally didn’town much to take off them in the first place, and they were surprisingly good –and fast! – with the pitchforks and axes.So when he happened upon that band of mercenaries making camp justoutside another miserable looking village, he was sure that his luck had turned.Mercs tended to have well-filled pockets, and, while not fighting, were usuallybored   out   of   their   minds   and   happy   with   any   kind   of   distraction   andentertainment they could get their hands on. However...As it happened so often in his life, Siraan had severely underestimated theintelligence of those he tried to cheat. And when the mercenaries, enraged overtheir constant loss at the card game they preferred, searched the sly cat andfound the extra deck of cards he’d been hiding in his vest... the game was up.Little did Siraan know that offering them his ass for a different kind ofpleasure would be the next, fatal mistake he made...
