TLDR: Patrons will now be charged each month on the date they became patrons rather than on the 1st. This won't affect current patrons who will continue to be charged as they have been at the start of each month. Please see below for more information.

Hello everyone!

I made a poll about this a few months ago but Patreon have given me the opportunity to change how billing works for you guys. I have decided to accept it and make the change and I will explain why below.

It has always been strange to me that Patreon have charged patrons on the day they subscribe and then again on the 1st of the next month. It has led to situations where people will become patrons a day or two before the end of the month and get charged twice in a short time. This isn't fair to patrons and it makes thnigs harder for me when I get messages about it and have to refund people. It becomes a mess.

I have decided to accept the change in payment schedule for a few reasons:

1) It will be fairer for new patrons who will no longer be double-charged.

2) People can choose to become a patron at a time when they know they will have money spare which will prevent declined payments and the trouble that can create each month. It allows potential patrons to be flexible.

3) It's becoming clear that Patreon will eventually be switching everyone to this new payment schedule. It makes it easier for both myself and Patreon themselves. They won't have to process hundreds of pledges to me in one go (a process which often takes several days!) and likewise I won't have to wait for it to finish before accessing money.

4) It won't affect any current patrons. AS FAR AS I KNOW. I've been led to believe that all my current patrons will continue to be charged on the 1st of each month unless they cancel their pledge and then re-pledge on a different date.

I've given this A LOT of thought over the last few weeks. I never make changes like this lightly so know that I've weighed up all the pros and cons and believe this will work out better for everyone in the long run.

Thanks :)
