Elden Ring has been my favorite environmental storytelling in a while. I'd be excited to collect a rare item to see the lore description.

While XBC3 is my pick of the choices here, I'd like to give a shout-out to Scarlet/Violet. It doesn't try to be overly complex, but a story doesn't have to be convoluted or touch on deep themes to be genuinely good, which I think can get looked over in games sometimes. The characters in the game are well written in my opinion and the journey you go on with your friends, and the growing up they do in the process, resonated with me. The way the story concludes is excellent, too. The story surprised me with how good it was, since the past several Pokemon games just haven't hit that mark for me. And I want to clarify that I think the story is good *overall* not just good for a Pokemon game.
