We are now in June which means we are just about halfway through 2024. Can you believe it??

There are still a lot of amazing games to come and more that we may learn about in the June Nintendo Direct, but at this point of 2024, what is your Game of the Year? Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth for sure. That game did what it needed to be the perfect sequel to a game that was already fantastic. It took everything that made Like a Dragon 7 an amazing RPG and just added to it. I knew it was going to be great the second it was announced and it even exceeded those expectations.

What Kit said last year in episode 53 of the show about savouring the remaining moments of Switch rings truer than ever for me. So I'm going to be a bit contrarian and say my GOTY is Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I had bought this game way back in 2017 as part of my launch window haul on Switch and there it sat unopened on my shelf. I recently went back to my backlog and selected it. I regret not playing it sooner. I am savoring the amazing library on Switch, and I suspect most people have games they could revisit. Idea for future podcast, instead of chasing the shiny new thing, while we wait for the Switch 2 reveal, let's revisit and complete backlog games!
