Hey folks, this is Brandon. While I was out in Japan for a few weeks, I recorded about 7 podcasts worth of content (meant to do way more, but got sick!) but we don't actually need all of it. You've already heard the first of them, which is the 8-4 crossover cast.

The rest of it is, without spoiling anything:
- one of my "walkaround" travelogue episodes
- a few interviews with some notable people, which could be their own episodes
- a reader Q&A episode answering questions about "being in japan" from the forums
- a conversation about games purchased in japan with a special guest.

None of these (aside from the 8-4 one!) conform to the normal episode style, and all have rougher audio due to being recorded on the fly. I am wondering what you all would like to see us do with these! We might save one or two for a rainy day when we need to fill a slot, but we don't need them all for that.

I'm currently considering including them as extra episodes throughout the next few weeks. What would you all think of that? You'd get your normal episode Sunday night/Monday morning, and then something else wednesday or thursday.

Also considering, what if we did some little extra short podcast bits like my written piece about Balan Wonderworld, not as interstitials between normal episodes, but as individual 5-10 minute bite-sized episodes to drop during the week?

Curious what you all think about all this, and also if you'd like them to be branded differently somehow. Of course it would all still be insert credit, and we wouldn't want to separate them into a different feed, but maybe they could have a different intro or naming structure so it's not like... "insert credit 450", but "insert credit: brandon interviews a cool person."

I wonder, also whether getting THESE episodes earlier might be fun for patrons? Or no? All thoughts are welcome! Thanks!

My thoughts: I love it! Do as much as you want.

Joshua Jarvis

Agreed! Bite-sized eps of any kind sprinkled throughout the week, as “bonus” content or otherwise, would be great!

Alex Perrotti

I am never ever going to complain about more insert credit! The "goodbye forever" episodes are always my favorites. I also loved the balan wonderworld bit, and think those could work very well as little bonuses thrown in the feed. Thanks so much for putting all this extra content out! ^~^

Incredible! Yeah drip feed us as you see fit! It would be great to have little bursts of extra conversation to listen to through the week. As for the naming convention, maybe you could do “Assignment #1: Brandon interviews cool person” Since Alex Jaffe always says you’re out on “assignment” Whatever you think of, I’m sure will be great. The Balan Wonderworld spoken article was really neat as well and was thought provoking.

Amazing, you work too hard, Brandon! As we head into the later months of the year with more holidays, might be nice to save some of those to release during weeks where you all want to take some time off or need a break.

Chris Brower

Love that so much! Personally, those could all be bonus credits. And One Day Early. Whatever release schedule you see fit, but (one day early?)

Thom

Without just making a bunch of extra work for Esper they'd be nice edited down. Or even just split up and parcelled out.

juniorskeptic

I only want extra episodes if they are exactly one day early

Éric Mill

All sounds great, release whenever you want!!

connrrr

I'd listen to all seven podcasts' worth if you put them out

George Rohac

I think using them for bonus content as ya'll see fit and then occasionally using them for filler episodes when the main feed needs a break do that.

I’m with everyone else, extra bonus stuff would be great. Provided it isn’t too much work for Esper.

Hygge State

I’m content in however and whenever they come out.

Hey Brandon, sorry about the random question but there was some discussion about hot sauce on a recent episode you weren't on, so I was wondering what your favorite brand of hot sauce is. If you feel like sharing that information that is. If not, that's cool too!

Kevin Handlon

Yes please, this sounds like good bonus content.

Bruce Kellerman

I'm up for however you want to release it, but I do like the rebranded title idea. Some name about getting a continue to be on theme with "insert credit"? Bonus credit, Extra Credit, 1up, etc.

(brandon:) Just for regular every day I like melinda's extra hot or xxxtra hot if I feel like it. I try new stuff all the time but I always go back to those ones for flavoring, say, a burrito. Not too hot, but add a lot of character to things. Right now I'm also into Mexico Lindo's Chiltepin when I want something even more on the sour side. I have also been enjoying zindrew's X batch for a nice chili oil. that's not a hot sauce but might as well mention it!

“goodbye forever” is good branding for the travelogues , and i always enjoy these kinds of episodes so look forward to new ones. i like the wed/thurs timing and don’t care if they’re early. def would enjoy articles in any format as bonus content.
