I've been playing all the Yakuza and 5 felt like the biggest slog. (3-5 in general were a decline. I've been recommending people that ask about the series to skip those and lookup the story instead.) When I first entered the Haruka arc I thought I'd hate it. What is this J-pop rhythm-game nonsense? Where's my street brawling? To my surprise it ended up being my favorite part of the game. I've been playing 0 now and I'm loving it so far. (It's like the New SMB2 of Yakuza games!) The break between 5 and 0 were the longest I took because I was so burned out by 5. Unfortunately I basically know what happens in the series thanks to IGN's spoiler-filled reviews, but it's about the ride, not the destination! Also, we got a KoF podcast episode. How about a Yakuza episode?

I (brandon) have to get through 6 and then I'm done with the main series - still got a few side games to clean up though, the 2nd judgment, the zombie ps3 one, the fist of the north star one (not a yakuza, but plays like a yakuza). I'll probably skip the psp and historical ones for now but... maybe they'll remaster those eventually!? I mean why not. 5 really was the worst one so far, but I think it had some real good moments as well - if it had been split into several games, and lost a couple hours from each game, it might've been alright. my main bids for side yakuza games would be a full haruka game and an akiyama game. that dude has potential!
