(in seriousness, I (brandon sheffield) think it was another case of folks not liking that I was an american and pretending they couldn't understand me because I was speaking american english... which was like 75% of my London experience. A cashier at a corner store wouldn't give me the snack bag I bought until I called them crisps - I hadn't even called them chips yet myself, he was just like "what do you call these, then?" and I was like "chips," and he was like "say crisps. they're crisps." etc.)
