When noticed the extra filters after some version besides the notch filter I disabled them since my quad is pretty noise free. I am going to try Boris' recommendations. While BF 3 brought much smoother performance out of the box I have disliked how hard it was to tune compared to like version 2.1.6 that I ran for a long time. Tuning for me was a lot easier back then because changes where easily noticeable in flight characteristics.

ill try this too. ive got a fresh build so really shouldnt need all that filtering i guess. time will tell.

Eh, can't be bothered LOL. Boris needs to make up a "clean copter" profile, and just enter somethign into CLI to activate it, to keep it away from beginners.

Just tried this tonight. I am very happy with the results. Prop wash is reduced by more than half, and the handling is much better. I have a row of small trees that I often do figure eights around and it felt way better. No prop wash at all on that maneuver. My copter is only 1 month old with new high torque motors. I was very disappointed that I couldn't get a good tune out of it, but now it feels good.

I did the recommendations in 3 steps. I set it to PT1 and got rid of the higher frequency notch filter in one step and that made a big improvement for me. Next I got rid of the second gyro notch and it may have got a bit better (I will check the blackboxes for each flight to see if the second step changed much). The motors came down very cool so for the third step I got rid of the dterm notch. That one didn't work so well. The copter tried to fly off and I had to disarm right away. I put the dterm notch back in and flew my last battery and it was beautiful again. This is definitely the best my new copter has flown, and the timing is good because my other one crashed hard last week and isn't flying right now.

I have built up two copters in the past six months. The first with the original red bottom 2600kv and the newest with the "S" version red bottom 2600kv. These new motors are smokin fast, but the flight was way less smooth with prop wash and mid throttle oscillations. It still flew well for ripping around fast, but no way it would have had nice HD footage. Now I think it matches my original for smoothness in sharp corners, long drops, etc.
