“We’re bought out!?”  Diane said. “Who bought us out?”

“Some big investment firm,” Carla Cho said.

“I can’t believe Mandy would sell out. She helped make this company.”

“Yeah, well, she hasn’t been around for a while.” Carla ran one hand through her night black hair. “And, well… There’s some things I’ve heard.”

“Like what?”  Diane asked.

“Well, remember that conference last year. That was where the investment firm showed up. Destiny.”

“Well that’s not arrogant, not at all,” Diane muttered.

“Yeah, but they had meetings all during the conference, and since then, they’ve been grabbing companies all over the place. Mostly smaller, but it’s like… they get really good deals.”

Diane rolled her eyes. “Anything else. Like where they get the cash.”

“No. But they’re mostly owned by, well, women. Or have a lot of women on staff.” Carla shrugged. “And supposedly, Mandy’s biological clock has been ticking, or that’s what her secretary said when she talked to me at lunch. Maybe she’s just decided to quit while she’s ahead.”

“Mandy the Bitch?”  Diane shook her head. “Okay, I’ve gotta get ready, because every time a place gets bought out there are stupid changes in policy.”

“Yeah,” Carla said. “Like dress code. That’s what I was told… someone wants to promote a more friendly image.”

Diane rolled her eyes at that. As if.  They didn’t pay her enough to dress in some crazy uniform.

With that, she waved goodbye to Carla, and got to work. Because whatever happened, she wasn’t going to lose her position. It’d taken her too long to get to a managerial position, after all.

not all part of Dresscode will be this short, but it is a short story, one that will hae an image roughly every one or two parts. there may be a few independent images coming up as well, character designs and other such.
