Mr. Wilson: Patricia, or Patti as we called her with the new office policy of women using welcoming and friendly nicknames, was very resistant at first. But she had her duties, and well, our new disciplinary policy helped. It was hard to be arrogant when you were told to go stand in the corner!

Stepford Magazine:  How did Patr—Patti respond?

Mr. Wilson: oh, some stomping of feet. She had a right little temper tantrum in my office, so I docked her some pay and reminded her that she’d agreed to the new disciplinary policy. But we put her right by my office. The men were happy to pat her on her ass and tell her that she’d do fine.

Patti faces office discipline for her misbehavior, as the former executive is faced with the changing office environment.

Stepford Magazine:  And how did she respond?

Mr. Wilson: After an hour she, ah, begged for a bathroom break, and I won’t say she was wet… she was wet and I could hear her from outside the hallway. I think she was a lot happier at the way the male staff supported her.

Stepford Magazine:  And did her behavior improve?

Mr. Wilson: Yes. I think she understood. She was quite happy to show off her assets after that. Do you know she wore a minimizer bra previously? None of that now. Most of the girls were, after all, they were all competing for the positions. The Stepford Cosmetics Corporation was making bank with their various enhancers…

Patti soon adapted to her bosses requirements for properly filed paperwork and coffee every day, all the time showing off her most important assets...

Stepford Magazine: Management?

Mr. Wilson: Oh my, no. The new policies had cured them of that. Personal assistants. After all, there’s a difference in going from executive to secretarial pool to being an actual personal assistant to a manager. Even if he was in the office the girls had been in. I decided to officially make Patti my girl, and well, she was quite happy… Even if part of it was thinking she still had some authority. But you know girls!

Stepford Magazine:  Yes, we do. What happened after that?

Mr. Wilson: Well, things were moving quickly and the whole office was changing… The girls were really starting to understand and get on board with the changes.  And Patti, I’m proud to say, was one of the early adopters. She started talking to the secretarial staff, the ones from before, and I noticed her looking for better recipes. Instead of whining about her pay issues, she started cooking her own food and bringing it to work—even some cookies for the male staff. She wasn’t the only one. Put on some weight, I have to confess…

She also realized that she needed to be proactive about her new wardrobe. Instead of just waiting for us to tell her what needed to be done, Patti really stepped up. I still have the picture from that Monday.

"Hello Sir, The office is sooo much better than when I was pretending to run things. Is there anything you need? Anything I can give you... "

Patti quickly learned that the most important part of a PA's duty was to help keep their superior happy and stress-free during the day...

Stepford Magazine: I can see how that would brighten up your day…
