silver’s “My name is John Silver and I’ve got a long fucking memory” vs his “My name is John Silver and I happen to be a very good cook” in the first episode has got to be one of my favorite parallels in the show Also the parallel between woodes this episode saying “But if you insist upon making me your villain, I'll play the part.” and flint in the season 2 finale saying “Everyone is a monster to someone. Since you are so convinced that I am yours, I will be it” also makes me quite insane

It’s so interesting to me how much you seem to put into Vane and Eleanor’s “relationship.” Like, we all know he loves her, vey deeply. But I’ve NEVER gotten that from her. Even when they first started out, I think she was lusting after him and more importantly, saw him as a way to help her get what she wanted, which was Teach off the island.

I feel like it doesn't get emphasized enough by some fans what Jack has really agreed to do in the last episode. He's purposefully setting about to cause Nassau to descend into utter chaos and violence just so that his name will be associated with the return of piracy. Which is perfectly in character for him, and I like seeing him deny Rodgers, but I also completely get why Max does what she does (and while Jack wasn't being tortured, Rodgers did still threaten it in the previous episode so max knows it can come to that). And it's about more than just wanting her own future to be secured: if Spain doesn't get the gold, they will *burn Nassau to the ground*. Trying to prevent that is absolutely a good thing to be doing, and Jack wanting it to happen is probably one of the worst things he's done. "We're all villains in Nassau" indeed.

As for Eleanor's change...I think you're forgetting how very very close she was to getting executed. Like Rodgers coming to her in her prison cell was the only thing that kept her from the noose, and it was stated as such. Eleanor learned very very clearly that doing things the way she did before is how she lost everything, and nearly lost her life as well. Though I was never into her and Vane's relationship. I'm also not into Eleanor and Rodgers. I think both relationships make sense and are well written, but I don't "ship" either of them at all haha. EDIT: Also, working with Rodgers lets Eleanor do what she has wanted since s1: stabilize Nassau.

Eleanor has been in danger her whole life. I do think the recent death of her dad put the idea that consequences will happen because of her actions in the forefront. But I guess what I was trying to show is that while yes she wanted to stabilize Nassau, I think a big part of her character was establishing a name for herself as an individual. She fought to learn the trade on the island and wanted her name to be respected as a businesswoman. Stabilizing Nassau was just a way for her to legally spread to England. And now, I don't see her ambitious for that anymore. I hope that makes sense lol thank you for your thoughts <3
