The way the light illuminated just Max and Ann's eyes in that scene is fabulous, this show is a masterpiece in every aspect. I never thought how Ann murdering those two could have been the perfect scene to make a villain born, good observation! Honestly I don't see Jack decision as a betrayal, he didn't actually have a choice, it was that or give up entirely to have a crew; I think you said it yourself too in another episode, it was the reasonable thing to do and it would have been only temporary. Just two things: I think Jack should have spoke to Ann before doing it, maybe with both Max and Ann at the same time, and they should have reached an agreement where both Max and Jack's shares would be divided by three so that Ann would get her share too. Yeah Jack definitely was lucky during that fight, he swinged and managed to land a hit assisted by the effect of surprise, but in a fair fight he would have totally lost. Which is fine, he's not that kind of captain, you can't have all the skills. Well, unless your name is Flint :P :P :P
