"The Black" is the black flag hoisted at the stern to signal that it is a pirate ship. I'm so happy you noticed how well done the set is (as I mentioned before, they actually build two functional ships), and the camera work to simulate the ship movements is amazing as well. I could have listened Gates and Flint talk for hours, I loved their drinking scene and it broke my heart when Flint killed him. But I also truly believe Flint was broken by his choice, he deemed it necessary but his friendship with Gates was true. I think you missed the last scene in episode 7, first because you were surprised by seeing Vane and you commented about him being buried, then because you named the big guy on the island. At the end of episode 7 you can see Vane digging his way up and surprise the big guy from behind stabbing and killing him. Vane is now the leader of the whole group.
