Sizes would vary occasionally, but the typical company would have 60 to 200 men, divided into 3 or 4 platoons, so imagine 15 to 50 men per platoon, and each platoon could be further split down into squads of 6-10 men. Easy Company usually had 3 platoons. Each platoon is commanded by a lieutenant, here Lt Welsh leads 1st Platoon. Easy is one of 9 companies (Able, Baker, Charlie, Dog, Easy, Fox, George, How, Item). ABC is 1st Battalion. DEF is 2nd Battalion, GHI is 3rd Battalion. These three battalions form the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, and that Regiment is part of the 101st Airborne Division. "Jerry" is slang for a German soldier. Talbert was stabbed by Smith with his bayonette because he was wearing a german poncho, we can see him showing it in the beginning of the episode, while someone else displays their nazi flag. Speirs actually shot one of his own men, who was drunk and was disobeying orders. The man raised his rifle at Speirs, but Speirs shot him first, an act witnessed by his entire platoon, and deemed self-defense. Speirs reported the incident to his own superior, but that man was killed the very next day and nothing ever came out of it. Besides, Command was typically willing to close their eyes on events like these, because men like Speirs who were fearless and never hesitated to engage the enemy were far too valuable to lose them. Gordon and another man, Paul Rogers, loved composing poems and stories about their friends' mishaps, and were always delighted the more their "victim" would get angry about it. Lt. Meehan was the officer who took over Easy after Sobel was sent away. Meehan's plane is the one who caught fire inside and crashed in a field on D-Day, killing everyone on board. That's why in Ep2 and in the beginning of Ep3, everyone keeps asking if anyone has seen Meehan. In a way, the NCOs saved Sobel's life with their mutiny, otherwise he would have been aboard that plane. Blithe actually lived until 1967, this is the one big mistake of this show. He was shot in the shoulder, not the neck, and sent back to the US. The men of Easy simply lost touch with him, and two even swore they attended his funeral, but it might very likely have been another Blithe from the 82nd instead of the 101st. He served in Korea, earned a Silver Star, three Bronze Stars, and died while stationed in Germany, from complications following a surgery. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery with full honors.
