So so so glad Madi is alive (had to do a little lying in my comment on the previous episode hihi), but Billy was smart to know this would cause a division between Flint and Silver. As this entire season has shown Silver would place Madi's life over the war effort; he would choose love. Whereas Madi (and Flint) would both choose this war, as you mentioned Madi would die fighting and would not want the cache exchanged for her life. Then it is also good to see that the writer's also highlighted Julius' perspective besides Silver's perspective and Madi/Flint's perspective, because he makes some excellent points and is very realistic where Madi and Flint seem more idealistic. No one is necessarily wrong and I appreciated the nuance. On a little sidenote: Eleanor died thinking she failed to save Madi's life (it is one of the last things she mentions to Flint and she seemed upset about that). But in the end she did (sort of) save Madi by killing that Spanish soldier. The writers are insane for that, like the tragedy of it all. Screaming crying throwing up about the Madi and Eleanor scenes in 4x06, such an interesting dynamic and past relationship. Really interesting stuff as well in the storyline with the characters in Boston. Like the conversation about that damned cat lol. Really this entire episode just felt like a lot of political maneuvering to get us closer to the finale. Can't wait for next episode, just three more to go <3 (p.s. there is a small typo in the title, it should be 4x7 instead of 1x7)

The threat of Spain invading and burning everything to the ground always felt like a plot device to me, so I'm not surprised that it wound up mostly being one. In fact, the urca gold/treasure itself kinda becomes a plot device during seasons 3 + 4. In seasons 1 + 2, the urca gold primarily represents an idea, a vision, a dream to be achieved. None of our characters actually possess the gold, so storywise it's more of an abstraction than a physical object at this point. In seasons 3 + 4, the urca treasure becomes a literal object that our characters start moving around and trying to keep out of the hands of the bad guys. It still represents an idea, but its story purpose has become more that of a plot device. For these reasons, I feel like the urca treasure had a superior story purpose in seasons 1 + 2. However, seasons 3 + 4 still manage to enrich the story by incorporating issues such as slavery and such.
