I once read an interview with one of the writers (maybe Vince Gilligan) that explained that they would often write a script and intentionally write themselves into a corner and then be forced to find a way to write themselves out of it. For most other shows the writers would go back and change some things to make it easier on themselves but with Breaking Bad they tried to avoid that. Cool process that paid off.
