Random Gooseshittery - Update #5 (Patreon)
Content
Good afternoon folks. I've managed to finish the first half of Untitled Gooseshittery. It's available above for those interested.
The whole timeline is broken up into 6 individual puzzle areas like this:
So this edit is the first 3 boxes:
- Intro Lake
- The Groundskeeper
- The Village Street.
And following this is:
- The Bickering Neighbours
- The Village Pub
- The Theft of the Bell.
I'm starting the next part now. With an expected completion time of another 3 weeks. But some advanced animation commissions might push it over. Let me know if you spot any errors. I can happily add them to the pile. And thank you always for your extreme patience.
So on this edit, I decided to make a bit of a drastic audio change for the sake of the structure of the whole thing. For what ends up being the catchphrase - "I am a goose" - is actually used pretty infrequently in the first half of the edit.
This is because I only made it a catchphrase in the second stream, later that evening. Meaning moments of exasperation from the morning stream were followed by a sigh, or a groan, or some other generic sound of frustration. That was serviceable, but not overly memorable.
Therefore I hope you'll excuse my the poetic-editing-license by cutting out some "I am a goose" sentences from parts 4 and 5, and slotting them in sooner where they feel they belong.
Additionally, now that I've reached over the halfway mark, I've identified many locations for possibly art commissions. And soon I need to reach out to various artists with an unusual request - you can replicate the simple geometric arty style of goose game?
And if the answer is yes, can I get away with adding some additional comic-book style cutaway gags? Showing the residents of Untitled Goose Game doing silly things when the goose isn't present. Or perhaps add in whole other clips like blooper reels in the playthrough.
Something to investigate with some tests of my own.
And lastly, some unfortunate news - the dreaded rendering bug is back.
In the middle of last week I found myself unable to render anything useful. With my overnight rendering work freezing and refusing to spit out a video to review. Because Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects refused to communicate. For reasons that are entirely unclear.
Rendering works fine, so long as there aren't .aep files there. The moment anything After Effects related appears - it chokes.
The workaround is perfectly feasible. Having After Effects churn out a lossless, high quality .avi files and import them into the project. But it necessitates doing that for every single change. Which adds needless busywork and extra minutes. And introduces another avenue for potential mistakes.
Time will need to be allotted after this project to try and solve this. Likely with tickets to Adobe support. As my process is already glacially slow - and I need to trend towards efficiency - rather than accept sub-par software.
For now though, let me know what you think. And thank you again. I'm hoping the complete video that follows this will be enjoyable :)
