So this one took me just over two weeks to finish. Though there were the Christmas festivities and a bit of a sickness in the middle where breaks were taken.
I had lots of smaller clips to arrange this time. Fewer bigger set-pieces like we normally have in Arma. The Clive moments were originally more numerous, but I decided to tone it down as the joke was wearing a tad thin.
Originally I had edited in My Heart Will Go On as I looked over the forest with a picture of Clive appearing transparent in the corner. But then I hit upon the idea of having BewBewDingo draw something as a joke. When I was talking to her over Twitter, I envisioned just Rose with a rock over her head . I didn't imagine that BewBew would make Rose a massive fucking hand XD. But I liked it so much that I comissioned it fully for the weirdness factor of it .
There's an important development you might like to know about this episode. A lot of the pieces of animated text were done in Adobe After Effects and not Sony Vegas as they usually are. Particularly the parts with limited movement. Such as the rock in the hand, or when Cyanide only moves a little bit.
Why is this important? Because if I'm able to replicate the same style in After Effects, I can take advantage of its automated tracking system for some of the simple pieces of animation, rather then doing it myself. This could potentially shave quite a few days off editing per episode, depending on how capable the automated tracking system is. I'll need to do a full bullshittery in Adobe Premiere first and experiment. I'm wondering when the best time to make the switch is. I've previously mentioned those training days needed to make the transition.
