Random The Culling Bullshittery (part 2) - Update #3 (Patreon)
Content
Having uploaded some low quality test renders to Youtube to begin QA'ing for errors, this thing reared it's ugly head.
The final sequence of the video is edited in slow-motion to parts of an opera song called "Time to say goodbye" , which builds up quietly during the confrontation between my brother and I, eventually reaching a crescendo as we cross blades.
And while I was totally expecting to have this happen, and then have Youtube just force adverts on to the copyright holder's benefit, this time it's different.
The copyright holder doesn't want the song used at all. And mutes everything, even ininstances of fair-use like this one. This is very unexpected, as there are plenty of examples of this song all over Youtube, much to my confusion.
Now, this does kind of torpedo the video somewhat. The ending was carefully cut together to the tune of this song. And undoing it is not impossible, but undesirable. I've emailed the company that is acting is the stead of the copyright holder, asking for permission. But now it's a bit of a waiting game. The final 2 minutes of the video sit in limbo.
I'll wait 24 hours for a response. And if I hear nothing, begin disasembling the ending to return to the drawing board.
In the mean time, I've started QA'ing the rest of the video. There's still about 9 minutes I can do. So I'll focus on that. And I've reached roughly the 5 minute mark.
But yeah...huge bummer.
