Happy Monday folks. Yet another editing update.

So on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday last week I was able to take the three Golf It streams and cut them into a rough-cut 15 minute video. Though I'm fairly confident I can trim that down to about 13 minutes as I remove some unnecessary bits.

Golf it is basically a mini-golf game which quickly saw ZF turn on each other once we discovered you can switch on collision detection. Resulting in several hilarious sessions in which we consistently back-stabbed one another as expected.

This week I'll be starting the text/animation part, which takes me about 1 week for every 5 minutes. So I expect it'll take me three more weeks based on current estimates.

Thankfully though, I think the auto-tracking will prove useful here. A coloured ball against a mostly-green surface should be a much more straight-forward job for automation. I hope. Certainly more so than Arma, which was almost entirely manually keyframed.

I do however have the following creative questions to answer:

  •  Should I keep the consistent white/yellow text colours for all text/actions. Or should I make the text colours match the ball colours, even though I know people changed the colour of their player ball mid-stream. Which looks better?
  • When multiple people are speaking, which golf-balls deserve the text. Part of the charm of these streams will be portraying them as a cluster-fuck, but do I risk overwhelming the audience?
  • Do I implement the 3D XYZ rotation for the text as the camera spins (as I've been experimenting with recently). And if so, which moments would be the most appropriate.

I'll experiment and figure out the best answer to these questions and get back to you with preview clips soon. The work continues!

Also, how the fuck is it August already?
