Ep 184 Preview + Life Update (Patreon)

Hello Dear Dragons,

I wanted to update everyone for a bit since I’ve been quiet this past month. There’s been ups and downs but ultimately, I wanted to let everyone know that I am doing alright and am working on episodes as I type! (Clove m'dear do you have a fever up there?) 

As some of you might be aware, I really struggled with the last few updates of SZ. Mostly it was a conflict of my vision vs. what I could accomplish within a week’s time. Season 3 involved new scenery, new characters and conflicts which proved more difficult with such a limited time window. There were weeks where I would cut out 15+ panels or entire scenes just so I could meet the deadline (only to add them a day later). At times, I would sob directly after sending in an episode because I felt the art was so terrible that everyone would be disappointed. Oftentimes I ended up submitting episodes late only to resubmit and re-resubmit another version within hours/days (which would cut into comic production the next week.)

I try to keep in mind that unlike a lot of studio-made comics on WT, SZ is mostly created by 3 people, myself and my 2 assistants (sent from heaven). Passion drives 90% of what we do, but boy does this weekly schedule kick my butt (alongside all the reformatting being made for Volume I). Fortunately, WT was pretty understanding when I asked for a break and the tentative return week for the comic has been set to January 21st!  T_T I know I’m not the only one who’s had a rough time these past few months but I’m always eternally grateful for your patience and passion for this story <3.

In other news, I’ll be in Hong Kong for the next month on my first vacation/trip in a while! Fun fact, the last time I was in HK SubZero’s first episodes had just been posted to canvas. It’s surreal to think that 6 years later SZ would be where it is now, and I’m STILL working on episodes while in HK! ^^ Clove and Kyro will also be coming with me and I’ll make sure to take lots of pictures of them!

I will be posting comic updates/doodles here and there but know that they’re going to be coming from my tablet/ipad and not my usual Cintiq! Off to the airport I go!~
