July 2023 Guy Gallery: Awakenings, Series One - Then & Now (Patreon)

For many of us, there was some specific moment when you saw a picture or a movie or some other piece of media that sparked a sexual awakening. The freshmen photographers at 21CA are exploring this during their first semester, inviting guys to tell them what their sexual awakening was, then recreating the image as best they can.

The first volunteers are Will, Tomas, Leo, Evan, Dominic, and Owen, each embodying the role of the guy who made them realize that, holy shit, they really like dudes. (Well, except for Dominic, but we'll get back to him...) Their selection of images start in 1992 and go up through a few years ago. As you'll see in some candid behind-the-scenes shots, they were all very excited to relive one of their favorite memories...

Down below there are links to the original images and a little bit about why each guy chose their subject. But first, let's get to the usual spiel!

Will - Marky Mark, Calvin Klein campaign, 1992

Back in the early '90s, it was much harder to see thirst traps than it is today. So when Will saw the pic of young Mark Wahlberg brazenly grabbing his dick in some boxer briefs, Will realized he wanted to grab some dick, too. And not just his own...

Tomas - Ryan Phillippe, Cruel Intentions, 1999

The scene in Cruel Intentions where Reese Witherspoon walks in on Ryan Phillippe toweling off fully naked was an awakening for a lot of guy-loving-guys back in the '90s, and Tomas was no different when the movie came to his country. There's just something about a bubble butt on a slender guy...

Leo - Chris Evans, Fantastic Four, 2005 (Click here for an alternate, clearer image)

Leo didn't see the movie until several years after it came out, since he was basically a toddler when it first hit theaters. He went in excited to see superheroes - and ended up having a flame ignite inside him the moment he saw Johnny Storm burn off all his clothes...

Evan - Tom Holland, Spider-Man: Homecoming, 2017

Evan has been a gymnast since he was young - so when he heard the new Spider-Man had trained as a gymnast just like him, he was immediately obsessed. And then he actually saw the new Spider-Man and became even more obsessed - 'cause there's just something about that suit, and Tom Holland wears it very well...

Dominic - Liam Payne, photoshoot with Mert Alas, 2019 (Click for a clearer but smaller version)

When Dominic was a lad, all the girls - and of course a fair few boys - were going mental over One Direction. When a photo of Liam Payne sitting naked in a director's chair hit the internet years later, Dominic saw a resurgence of all that thirst. He figured out then that he wanted that kind of attention, too - and clearly that meant becoming famous and sharing some body parts of his own...

Owen - KJ Apa, photoshoot with Damon Baker, 2019

Owen had an inkling he wanted to be an actor, but he had never really seen redhead leading men. Then came KJ Apa on Riverdale, who technically got his red hair from a bottle, but it was enough to inspire Owen to follow his dreams. When KJ Apa's incredibly hot photoshoots started rolling out, that made Owen realize that KJ was more than just inspiration for a career...

The guys who didn't get naked in their photos still walked around with their dicks out off set. After seeing how excited all these guys were to take their photos, one of the photographers got their permission to take some candid snapshots for his private collection. And wouldn't you know it, we happen to have them, too!
