Waiting for the onslaught (Patreon)

Applebloom leaned against the remains of a damaged parapet and looked west toward the setting sun.
She always attacked at Sunrise and Sunset. Ya could set yer clock ta it! Thought Applebloom. Don’t see what she expects get out of taking this here place cuz it’s a wreck!
But deep down Applebloom knew that it wasn’t clear thinking that was driving her attacks upon Applebloom’s fortifications. A sane pony would’ve long since cut their losses.
The little filly shifted her grasp on the massive bone scythe that leaned against her right shoulder. As she did her gaze drifted to valley floor. What once was a vibrant, lush, fertile had been reduced to a smoldering wasteland. Her caramel brown eyes could still see glowing pools of magna from her most recent counterattack. She’d lost track of how times she done battle to hold this position.
The earth pony didn’t bother looking for her town anymore. It had long been blasted clean off the map as result of her daily battles. Even the foundation of her ancestral homestead was buried under great mounds of rubble.
The wind picked up in intensity causing the filly’s soiled red bow to flap in the wind like a restless creature. Then in the distant west she felt her opponent begin gathering her forces for another assault upon Applebloom’s defenses.
Guess I should get ready and go meet her. No point in letting her get the first shot. Maybe I’ll be able drive her back before my dinner done a cooking! Sure don’t want it ta burn. Grub is starting ta get hard find around these parts!
Reluctantly the little filly rose into the early evening sky set forth to do battle with Celestia.
This is a rough, quick sketch is a scene from a very recent Equestria dreamscape dream. I quickly drew today between projects.
