I awoke, very groggy in my Equestria dreamscape. Within a few seconds I started to regret having drunk so much the night before. I’ve had worse hangovers but this was very unpleasant.

I was lying in bed on my left side. By how bright it was in the room it must have been about eight in the morning, well past the time I usually woke up. The blankets and sheets were almost pulled up past my head and the bed was almost uncomfortably warm. Obviously I was not alone in since somepony under the blankets was pressed firmly against my chest. Not having much energy or inclination to move I just decided to lie there and tried to collect my thoughts into some type of coherent order.

I had gone to the Bucking Mare with Petina and Carousel for their weekly dance performance. It had been a spectacular evening; Petina and Carousel had really been in fine form.

Under the blankets the pony pressed against me shifted slightly and made some groggy, incoherent sound.

The crowd had really gotten into the two mares performance and had been cheering them with wild abandon. Then Rainbow Dash had started dancing on one of the tables.

Against my back I felt another pony move slightly and make a small yawning sound. Even being half awake I recognized it as Carousel.

Then Petina had called Dash up on stage and the three ponies had given a performance that Ponyville had never seen before. I wonder how much of a ruckus that was going to cause.

My right hind leg was rather stiff. I tried slowly shifting it slightly to stretch it out but it was rather difficult for me to move since I was pinned between a two sleeping ponies.

After they had finished dancing Dash had come over to my table and plopped her self down in my lap in front of every pony. Oh, that was not going to make things any easier at work.

The pony against my chest gave me a sudden hug. Wow, they were quite the snuggle bug.

The three ponies had raked in a big old pile of bits from their performance, and someone in the audience had given Carousel a bottle of applejack. As we left Petina had asked RD if she wanted to join us back at our cottage for a nightcap. My boss had agreed, and the four us had returned here. The last thing I could remember was all of us singing, drinking and having a grand old time.

The hair on the barrel of my chest suddenly felt moist, after a second I realized that the invisible pony under the blankets had just drooled on me. Great. Petina was usually not quite this clingy in the morning.

Then I heard Petina groan behind me and another body shifted in our bed. Suddenly my eyes snapped wide open!

Slowly I raised my head and looked over my shoulder. On the left side of the bed Petina had her hoofs wrapped around Carousel, if Petina was hugging Carousel then who was hugging me.

My brain suddenly attempted to go from a cold start to redline in a fraction second. With my heart suddenly pounding I slowly lifted the blankets and was greeted with the sight of a sleeping, frumpled Rainbow Dash pressed against me.

Oh, oh this was awkward. Don’t get wrong she looked really great but I could not remember going to bed or what happened afterwards. I was wide-awake now, slowly I tried to snake my way out of bed. Unfortunately Dash just squeezed me tighter and mumbled the words that every female seems to say in this circumstance.

“Yurrrr wrrmmm.” Which was ironic since Dash was a little blast furnace all by herself.

Slowly and gingerly I extracted myself from light cerulean blue mare embrace and slip out of bed. With my departure RD latched onto the next closest heat source which was Carousel. I left the mass of mares and went to the bathroom.

After taking care of the morning business I went and splashed some water on my face. The cold water woke me up more but provided me with no further wisdom or insight into what had happened late last night. Staring in the mirror I tried to organize my thoughts and come up with a timeline of events.

Okay so you woke up in bed with Dash, that is not necessarily a bad thing if she agreed to it, after all I have slept with her once before at her place.

As I quickly ran a brush through my silver-gray mane I began making a mental tally of my situation. Organizing certain known facts in to good and bad columns.

Dash had gone and done a spontaneous exotic dance with Petina and Carousel in a crowded public place, while enjoyable to watch it might have given the secret of her upcoming performance away, I grudgingly placed it in the bad column. Bad.

Dash had flirted with me afterwards in public, bad only because it would feed the rumormongering in Ponyville.

Dash had been seen leaving the Bucking Mare with my roommates and I, not necessarily bad thing but in light of the first two facts I put it in the bad category. Bad

To my knowledge neither Dash nor myself had done anything while drunk that we would later regret. Good.

But I could not remember everything that happened last night. Bad.

      I had a hangover. Bad.

I have had worst hangovers than this. Good.

I had woken up first and had been able to get out of bed without waking anypony. Good.

I had left Dash with Carousel and Petina in bed. Um, uh, I decided not to categorize that detail. Nor did I decide to check in on them.

I left the bathroom and began the usual morning routine of getting the stove started and the coffee pot going. The act of doings this gave a sense of normality to the day and slowed the thoughts spinning in my head. Eventually began to relax, the more I thought about the calmer I became.

To my knowledge nopony knew that Dash had spent the night in our bed, heck they might not even know she spent the night here. If this played out right nopony would know. Good.

Then there was a knock at the front door. Bad. That was bad.

To be continued.

So is Petina's ball a pillow-saver or an eye-saver? Also, there are a number of people, in dreamscape and outside dreamscape, who would kill to be in your position, but of course, by the look on your face I think you realize that.

Hopefully the next scene isn't Dash's parents showing up with a shotgun and a preacher along with a demand that you 'do the honorable thing by our filly'.

BaronEngel

No, but the court of Public Opinion is about to weigh in on the subject.

What happens in Equestria.........soon becomes front page news!!

MishaFox

Wow - this looks like the start of things getting a whole lot more complicated. I'm waiting to see what Dash's response when she wakes up.

MishaFox

I love that panicked look on your face!

Who'd have taken Dash for a "pillow hugger"? (From a website: "As you might expect, Pillow Huggers place high importance on the bonds in their lives, in terms of friendships, family, and relationships. They tend to be people-pleasers, and may attempt to help others instead of themselves on occasion.")

Is that a Unicorn Protection Device I see? Edit: Damnit. Ninjaed. :(
