Grozgash's axe went still as he paused in his chopping of the tree. Slowly he looked around the forest clearing. He was part of a group of goblin pioneers sent out by his goblin lord to obtain timber in preparation for an attack on a nearby human settlement. His lord Nashkrak had determined that walls of the settlement were too high for them too easily scale. Therefore they were going to assemble scaling ladders to help climb the walls. Along with that a team of bugbears would attempt to breach the settlements gate with a battering ram made from the trunk of the tree his team was in the process of felling.

Grozgash wasn't convinced the bugbears would succeed in battering the gate down, but they would make a fine targets for the human archers, and an excellent distraction for the teams of goblins who'd be scurrying up to the walls to raise the ladders. And since Grozgash was going to be in one of those teams he was more than happy to let the bugbears eat arrows for him.

The goblin kept looking around the clearing, for just a moment he'd imagined that he'd heard a sound. It had been a short, sharp squeal. Almost completely covered by the sounds of axes chopping and goblin swearing. He shrugged his shoulders. If there was cause for alarm the sentries posted would've raised it.

Squaring his shoulders he readying to resuming tree chopping when suddenly he stopped. He hadn't the sentry stationed where should be when he'd looked. Spinning around he frantically looked for their picket line of guards. With a sinking feeling in his gut he realized he could see none of them.

Before he could yell out an alarm there came bursting from the forest with a mighty roar as a giant bear that charged for him and his fellow pioneers.  Joining the bear was a wolf running alongside and goshawk that had been weaving amongst the trees.

This alone would've been cause for alarm, but it was the figure riding on top of the bear that caused the goblin to scream. A light yellow pegasus mare with a long flowing mane and tail of rose pink. She straddled the bear's back as she pointed her spear at the goblin. Fire burned in her turquoise blue eyes. He'd heard legends of the buckskin clad maiden who called this forest home and fought to protect all in it. This was the defender of the forest.

Continuing my series of drawing of the anthro Mane Six as 5th Edition D&D characters. They are being done as patron rewards for RebelSqurl. This time it's Fluttershy. Needless to say she's a druid. I could see her being of the Circle of the Shepherd or Circle of the Moon. This ended up being a more complicated piece than the other ones in the series, but I felt it was worth the effort to get the effect across.
