Heya everyone! After a lot of hard work, we FINALLY managed to get a beta version the door out. Recent development has been really mired by setbacks; the visual novel renderer is gathering problems around it more and more, to the point that I had to start discussing viability. The potion making went through several reworks; we kept running into the issue that the potion making became easily too complex as we already got so many potions in the game. 27, and we plan to add more.

What we got now is I think a good minigame. It really was inspired by an almost childish idea of chemistry; throwing different mixing tubes together, and seeing what happens.

Currently, there are only two functions; on the right, you can break potions down into ingredients. For now the names are placeholders, but the principle is there. The ability to change less useful potions into ingredients that can be used to create potions the player DOES want, including new ones!

The left portion allows the player to combine any ingredient with any other ingredient, or any ingredient with a potion, and vice versa. At the start of the game, they won't have ANY idea what does what. Some combinations might 'fizzle' and do nothing; others might give entirely new potions, or new ingredients to be used in potions! It's literally throwing test-tubes together, with the player trying to work out what does what. It's simply, and hopefully fun.

Below those you got a notebook; found recipes will be added here automatically, to make sure that the player doesn't have to memorize it. After all, there is a LOT of it!

But with this, the player can take potions they don't want, and change them into potions they do want!

now, for the next big thing... the rival! In this beta we started adding the first events for the much awaited rival! he's missing his art currently, but that will be coming soon. I can only say... have fun!

Certainly! Let me upload it as a picture as a new patreon post.

Question: in the future would the ingredients themselves become consumable? Like... maybe to a much lesser degree than the actual potions?
