Due to new laws passing in several countries and US states, Patreon will be required to start charging sales tax on some pledges starting July 1st.  Some of you depending on the region you live in is going to pay a bit more than before. You can find more info here:  https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043054911-New-Sales-Tax-Requirements-effective-July-1st-2020
Patreon gives creators the option to set what kind of benefits different tiers get. This way creators can reduce the tax you'll pay by choosing 'General Support' as one of the benefits which is not taxable in most places.
The benefit values I have set:
for Tier 1( $3):  General Support 50% ,Early access to most of my work 30% Patron role on Discord 20%
for Tier 2 ($5):  General Support 70% ,Early access to most of my work 20% Patron role on Discord 10%
This should reduce the tax some of you has to pay. :) I'd love to set general support to 100% so most of you don't have to pay anything, but I'd guess Patreon wouldn't allow that. I think at most some of you will pay 30-40 cent extra. Most of you probably less and some of you nothing depending on who makes tax laws in your country. I might change these settings in the future depending on what happens to make it cheaper for you.
