I forgot to tell you guys in the first episode of the season: Brett Gelman has finally been promoted to the main cast. Whether you like it or not, this means we get to see more of Murray Bauman. 34:07 lol hahahahahahaha!!!!!! Argyle yelling at Jonathan in Spanish cracked me up. For me this is one of the funniest moments in the entire season if not the funniest among them. Between seasons 3 and 4, David Harbour would go on to portray the Red Guardian in Black Widow 2020. Then back in June 2021, he revealed in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel that he secretly took photos of the Russian prison set and sent them to the Duffer Brothers. Normally doing something like that can bring a heap of trouble, but David did it for a good reason. He wanted to help make sure that the Kamchatka prison set and costumes in season 4 wouldn't be direct copies of what we saw in Black Widow.

Grew up without a tv, on the Brightside, and correct me if I’m wrong, she’s an avid reader, I plan on doing something similar as a parent, barely any access to screens and not until a certain age, I’m 20 and I’m probably one of the last few of my generation who got to have an at least partial, electronic free childhood up until I was 10 because once I had step brothers we would be home alone after school and so I got a phone simply so they could contact us. I did watch tv growing up but had live tv ofc, but I would prefer to play outside than watch tv, I want my kids to read and play outside, I won’t be crazy with it, they won’t be shut out from the world lol but I don’t want them to end up iPad kids 😆

i feel like El has always been a quiet person. yes, she didn't hesitate to attack, but i think you should remember that she lost her powers which also means she lost her confidence and the only way she had to defend herself, AND she lost her dad. of course she's going to be much more softer and timid. i think you forgot that she also Did try to defend herself in the first episode, but ended up being laughed at since her powers weren't there. she also did try to defend the topic of her project in class, but angela kept bullying her while the teacher stayed silent. OF COURSE she's not going to be able to do anything after all of that happening the previous day. obviously i respect anyone's opinion haha im just pointing out the reason why she might've grown into the person that she is right now. also angela deserved that smack on the face. like you're gonna bully someone and not expect them to fight back one day? girl byee anyways, im loving ur reactions. just wanted to point this out :)

Am I the only one that wanted El to smack Angela upside the face with that skate? 😭 I clapped and congratulated her. Chick was making fun of her father’s death like how inhumane is that? she deserved it highkey😂 knock some sense into her lol

Guys you have to look at it from a teenage girl's perspective. All El knew before Mike and Hopper was the lab. She finally made friends and then Hop dies and she loses her powers. She feels vulnerable. She feels weak. She has always been the strong one and now she has no powers, in a new place trying to fit in. She is still trying to be strong in appearance to Mike despite suffering. Her lashing out at being bullied isnt strange at all. This girl literally made fun of her dead father, well she thinks he is dead. What do your expect her reaction to be? If she had her powers she would have probably flung the girl across the room as we have seen her do. But she doesn't have them. I think El is well written here. Just my opinion though and I respect yours.

I mentioned this last season. when Billy is at the phone booth after getting flayed, and he sees the upside down and the army that he is supposed to make, you can her the spooky clock chime in just that one scene. I dont think I heard it for the rest of the season but it jumped out at me because its such a huge part of this season.

i'm glad she hit angela lol. by the way in episode 5 there's a scene that will seem kind of confusing but you gotta pay close attention cause i remembered i was definitely confused when i watched it for the first time

I like how Angela is a big bully and acts like she’s tough but when the teacher caught her she whined and cried that she was getting taken to the office and then now when she got hit she starts crying like a baby again. It was a hard hit but she tries to act so tough but she will cry at anything. It’s amazing how she carries the following that she does.

angela had it coming. i don't give a damn if she's got issues going on back home, there's literally no excuse for being this much of an asshole, somebody would've gotten to her at some point in her life. el's project scene and the rink scene had me SOBBING, middle schoolers are so fucking mean. the feelings i worked so hard to overcome for years just came rushing back in a single episode.

lol angela deserved it. she humiliated el in front of the whole skater rink and made fun of her dead father. is violence the answer? no. but el isn't like every teenage girl. i was just relieved to see el stand up for herself and angela get what she deserved, even if her getting rocked in the face wasn't the best solution. lolol

I don't think this is an aberration in Els character. Think of how unsure and soft spoken she can be if she is feeling like she "doesn't belong" or is a "freak" of some kind. She's trying to pretend to be someone else and she's got 0 points in "deception" lol!

I feel like y'all are a bit too harsh on El, but I get that initial reaction. I wish the show would do a better job at explaining how Hopper survived. Did he go through the portal and land in Russia? or did the Russians take him prisoner before fleeing the states? I don't mind either explanation, just spell it out more for us.

I actually think El resorting to violence makes perfect sense. She grew up in a military operation and was exposed to extreme violence and abuse at a young age. She would absolutely struggle with violent tendencies. She would have a hard time controlling her emotions especially as she reaches her maturing years.

Yeah, the thing about El is that she's been used as a weapon to protect the world so many times, and she will snap people's necks with a twitch. Now she's just dropped into highschool without her dad, without Will, no support system and she's expected to navigate the complexities of high school bullies. She's always had two modes: sweet and loyal friend, and a savage killer. That's the only two speeds she's ever known. But the big picture here is that they want us to really think hard about these visions we keep seeing with the massacre at the lab. I think we're supposed to be thinking "does she even know what she's capable of?"

As far as Eleven, you have to understand, when she had her powers, that gave her confidence. She has lost that now and she lost her father (Hopper), losing a parent at a young age like that does something to you, believe me, I've lived it. Plus she's in California away from Mike & all her friends other than Will. And she's a teenager that has hormones going crazy. She's trying to live a normal teenage life best she can. Just keep an open mind when it comes to Eleven. It will all come together eventually. I love y'alls reactions! Can't wait for the next one.

Tbf, I thought subtitles for foreign language characters were automatic (unless we're not supposed to know what they're saying in that scene) without the need for subtitles throughout the entire episode.

Shame they tainted this incredible season with the silly outlandish arc of El getting bullied. I felt nothing when she hit Angela because it felt overly fabricated. "Make sure Angela says the worst thing before it happens" Also was the DJ another teenager ? or if they make him a ridiculous exaggerated character so the logic of an adult spearheading a public bullying of a child will just go over the viewers heads?

Elle has never been a background character, she has been #1 on the casting sheet in every season (2-10 have rotated). This entire story, is her story though, don’t forget that.

So, here is what a TON of people don’t notice. The day that Mike comes, The day that they are all at the Skate Rink- That’s Wills Birthday. His brother doesn’t remember, his mom is busy with her Russian escapades, Elle doesn’t remember, but he truly thought his best friend Mike would. He didn’t either. Yes will is having trouble settling with his own sexuality, but the awkward moments in THIS episode have NOTHING to do with that. It doesn’t feel good to be forgotten. It also can make you act out of turn. As for what Elle did to Angela, make a comment about my dead dad whom you’ve never met, SHE IS LUCKY SHE DIDN’T HIT HER TWICE.
