See a lot of people were saying not to watch it because you wouldn’t get a lot of the references but you guys got most of them. And it’s really not necessary to get them but it makes the movie more fun.

Also don’t know if you knew it but that big gorilla in the race is King Kong and he’s one of the creatures that’s a part of the Monsterverse. Also has a solo movie from 2005 I believe. I personally loved the movie but it got mixed reviews.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this was a poll winner. But watching a reaction video of this movie from people who don't get the references is really....something. Yes, the movie can be enjoyed without understanding things, but a large part of the fun of Ready Player One lies in the constant stream of "Oh, wow, I recognize that!" It's like watching a comedian doing impressions of people you have no knowledge of. Case in point: the group entering the Overlook is a gasp moment for those familiar with The Shining. The recreation of it, the shooting, the angles used...everything is just so impressive. V&S had literally no reaction, which is to be expected. It's absolutely not a slight on them, it's just that RPO assumes a lot of pop-culture pre-knowledge. The same thing can be seen with the BTTF audio cues, and Kaneda's bike, and so many others. And, no, people don't need to get every reference, but the audience of this channel could have prepared them a little bit more. Heck, the reference they did get were a joy to see. The smiles of recognition, the giddiness of finally placing an object...all of that is why so many reaction channels get requested to see RPO, but far too many are urged into it too soon. Anyways, just me babbling...

Ha....thank you. I think I probably write too much, but I do want to clarify a lot of what I say. But, yeah, when it comes to pop culture, I don't see the reason for attacking those with differing views. Unless someone bad-mouths the Muppets...
