I was literally thinking to myself man it would be awesome to see them watch another older film like HEat even though it has nothing to do with Jaws lol.

This movie has a special place in my heart because my film school sound teacher's first industry job was being a boom operator on Jaws! He would always tell us horror stories of working on the film since it was a disaster that no one thought would amount to anything. To name a few of the issues during production for instance, they hired a little person diver with no experience who almost drowned for the cage scene, the shark hunter actor was a physically abusive drunk during filming, the unpredictability of the ocean caused the shark animatronics to constantly malfunction because of the salt water and sheer weight, as well as the boat at the end actually sinking with cast and crew on board unexpectedly, not to mention that it also went way over-budget ($3mil to $8mil) and over 100 extra filming days were added (160 total) when the original schedule was 55! Clearly it was all worth it though, as it was one of the most profitable and commercially successful films ever that launched Steven Spielberg's career to the moon! Glad you two enjoyed it, thanks for another great reaction!

I am petrified of sharks. There isn’t enough money in the world, that’s why I like living in the Ozarks. I am geologically as far away from a beach you can get. lol.

This was Spielberg’s 2nd film he directed. This film is responsible for the phrase “Summer Block Buster”. They named the shark “Bruce”. That’s why the shark in Finding Nemo is named Bruce. This film was intended to be totally different than what it ended up being. The animatronic shark they built was constantly breaking & needing repairs. That’s why you rarely see the shark in the film. This film was intended to show the shark throughout. Funny enough, it ended up making the film so much scarier because you rarely saw the shark. Because seeing a shark is scary, but what is truly terrifying is knowing there is a shark around, but you can’t see it.

We miss your reaction ??

Yes that was a real shark that had already died that was hung up on the pier. They added a little extra fake blood to spruce it up.

This movie created my phobia of sharks as a little kid
