For the record. The Nazis absolutely were heavily involved in researching ancient prophecy and potential occultism powers. Hitler and the nazis were very interested in the occult. The swastika itself is an ancient symbol of peace. Hitler stole it as a marker for his "superior race". Nazis sent expeditions around the world to research ancient history and potentially search for power sources like the tesseract in this movie.

Himmler was SUPER into the occult stuff, reading up on the Wewelsburg castle is quite interesting. Thought objects from the place would gain magical powers when the Nazis won the war, all sorts of weird shit like that.

Really fun reaction! Now I can’t wait for Captain America 2, hands down my favorite mcu movie. ALSO in case you didn’t know, a failed attempt of trying to recreate the super soldier serum (what transformed Captain America) is what turned Bruce Banner into the hulk.

That was Howard Stark, Tony's dad. Just the young actor version of him, not the older guy we saw in Iron Man 2. Per the MCU, Howard was born in 1917, Tony was born in 1970.

So fun fact Captain America actually fought alongside Logan/Wolverine in WW2 when he was known as The Canadian fighting for the Canadian Special Forces. This was all featured in the comics but for the MCU because Fox owned the movie rights to X-Men Marvel was unable to use characters like Logan in the MCU without making a deal with Fox first. I heard rumours that Marvel tried to get a Hugh Jackman Logan cameo for this film which would've connected the Fox X-Men movies to the MCU but it never happened and they continued to be separate. X-Men First Class released this same year as well in 2011 so both X-Men and the MCU were coming out side by side up until 2019 so naturally made since for Marvel to try and connect them together. The cartoons, comics, and video games did not have this problem as it was solely the movie rights that Fox owned so Wolverine did show up as a cameo in Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Hero's in Captain Americas first episode while He and Cap also worked together in X-Men: Evolution so it's pretty cool seeing them together in an X-Men show and an Avengers show. Guys just a heads up. There are 2 end credit scenes in The Avengers. 1 is directly after the initial credits and the other at the very end of the credits.

So the reason why Schmidt had the messed up face was because the version of the serum that he took, was an unfinished, corrupted version of the Super Soldier Serum. So it completely deformed him, making him like that. Also, fun thing. Rmemeber Blonsky, aka the Abomination, from the Incredible Hulk? The soldier that became the other monster that Hulk fought? Well, the serum he was injected with at first, that made him faster and enhanced, was Super Soldier Serum. The same type of serum that Steve got in this movie. So he had the Super Soldier Serum, plus the Gamma radiation. Thats why he was so strong. As for the Tesseract, (The Blue Cube that The Red Skull used for the weapons) we saw in the end credit scene for Thor. So Nick Fury and Shield, have that cube currently.
