Hey guys I finally had time to watch this upload! I wrote a paper on the briefcase analogy but if you haven't put it all together let me blow your mind! The story really being told here IS Divine Intervention, after Vincent and Jules visit to the apartment for burgers and a shooting, Jules reconciles his past at the diner and decides to leave the gang. That very night Butch kills the man boxing. Jules having left the gang, leaves Vincent to stake Butch's house alone, until Marcelles decided to pick up breakfast on the way to substitute in for Jules. Three times we see Vincent take 'Too long' in the toilet. When Mia overdoses, when the diner gets robbed (prob for the better) and when he finally dies. Some speculate the piano player in Kill Bill who is at the Rehearsal wedding is the Jules after walking the Earth being a man of God. Finally however, ask yourself what's in the briefcase?

I agree with some of what you said but I don't think Marcelles was "filling in" for Jules. If that was the case I think Tarentino would have made that point more obvious. I think Marcelles' character was introduced in a random way for the sake of the story ark. Thats why both Marcelles and Butch were suprised to see one another. Why would Marcelles have to fill the shoes of a half ass hitman when he runs the organization? Surely he'd have people for that. You are right in saying the movie is about Jules and his belief of divine intervention and leaving the life. This is why Vincent dies at the hands of Butch. The followup task after Jules quits the game leaving Vincent alone not listening to Jules warning. Definitely a reach bringing up Jackson's character in Kill Bill. Tarentino prefers certain actors. Madson is in both reservoir dogs and kill Bill. Tim Roth is in pulp fiction and reservoir dogs. Sam Jackson is in hateful 8, pulp fiction django and kill bill. Along with playing a small role in true romance which was written by Tarentino. When directors find good actors they work well with, they tend to use them again. It's no more than that. Why risk casting an actor your not sure of when you already have an actor that's proventhemselves?

Marcelles got 2 cups of coffee on his walk back, could be the details Quentin is trying to convey. I definitely can't defend that last point tho. Just a fun idea thats where he ended up, if it was my choice id have Sam Jackson in every movie!
