When this movie came out, the special effects were unlike anything we’d ever seen before. There’s a before and after in the history of movies, and this is the dividing line.

This is literally the first movie I ever saw in a theatre when i was about 5 and one of the oldest memories in my brain. In the novel they hit more on an important point that with Malcom and Hammond arguing and them realizing these things arent truly dinosaurs. They are born in labs, hand fed, raised by humans, genetically modified instinct driven killer monsters that exist in a completely different environment than they should. They arent raised by mother and father dinosaurs in their natural setting, they dont learn to hunt from knowledge passed down thousands of generations. These all shape what a dinosaur really is to some degree. Evolution is the adaptation to ones environment after all. In the book the raptors are way scarier and fuck everything up including each other, even going far enough to eat through a buildings wall to get to Hammond who would eventually be devoured.

It was samuel L jacksons arm inside the power station. They sent him to do what Saddler ended up doing but it would seem he could have used a hand.

You MIGHT want to watch the follow up ”Lost World”, but it’s not nearly as good as this one. All the rest of the Jurassic Park movies should be avoided. There are so many other good movies out there to see!

I'm so glad you guys loved JP! I saw it when it came out in the cinema when I was 9, and it was EVERYWHERE - the effects were absolutely groundbreaking and still hold up to this day, which is why it was so nice hearing you say it's so modern looking. Haven't searched yet, but I'm really hoping you do all 6 movies as they are all worth a watch, although nothing beats this one (and The Lost World too).

I absolutely hate and fear snakes to the point where even pictures of them has my heart skip beats. You are not alone. Great reaction.

Are you going to react to return of the jedi?

really fun reaction. A few fun facts, this movie came out the same year as Schindlers List. Steven Spielberg had been thinking about making Schindler's List off and on for nearly a decade, and when he finally decided to do it, he was told he had to do Jurassic Park first, which he did, but because he was so eager for Schindler's List, and because that movie had to be filmed at least partially during the winter, he had to work on both movies at the same time for a while, when Jurassic Park was in post-production and in the beginning of Schindler's. He was so short on time, he even asked George Lucas to help with the post-production of JP, while Spielberg did remote work in Poland where they filmed Schindler's List. Another fun story, Jurassic Park is the first (or one of the first, i forget) movies to use CGI creatures to the extent it did, but it almost wasn't. At first, the dinos were supposed to be a mix of animatronic and stop motion puppets. However a few people on the team of CG artists in ILM had made a small test video of a CG T-rex, and one day when the Producer of the movie, Kathleen Kennedy, was visiting, they showed it and stunned everyone with how realistic it was. Sadly, they'd done it kind of without telling Phil Tippett, who was hired to do the stop-motion dinos. Allegedly, the line in the movie where Alan Grant says "Looks like we're out of a job." and Dr. Malcolm replies: "Don't you mean extinct?", is based on the "extinction" of stop-motion, with CG replacing it, or more specifically with Phil Tippett losing his job as stop-motion artist on the movie, though they did keep him as a supervisor to help with the CG animation and motion of the CG dinosaurs.

Sorry not sorry

Watch brothers, Jake Gyllenhaal and Toby Maguire.

I imagine Steven had to pull out all the stops to get Phil to stay on after the knife was removed from Phil's back.

John wasn't the dude's father. It was just a sarcastic remark because John was preaching to him.
