1. Mikasa cant fight because she broke a few bones when that titan grabbed her 2. Ymir is lying, all she wants is to protect Historia because she loves her. She said "there is no life within the walls". She truly believes that bringing Historia with her will keep historia safe while the people reiner works for would most likely kill ymir since she "stole the power of the titans" from MArcel". So really shes sacrificing her life to save historia. 3. The purpose of Bertholdts speech was to show that they arent evil despite what they have done, it also makes it clear that they are being forced to do this somehow. Its clear that their is something deeper going on here. Let me just say this... this show isnt your typical heroes vs villains show, its much deeper then that. 4. ERWINS THE GOAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like that style of blurring the lines between good and evil when it comes to villains, and actually showing some humanity. Some argue that this lessens the "badassery" of a villain, though that's only because when a writer humanizes a written villain, they are suddenly less terrifying than how we, as viewers, first conceived them. As in, we view them with more similarity to ourselves, rather than alienating them and regarding them as simple monsters who need to be disposed of. It's an interesting path to take, especially when within this show, we understand that humans like Eren, Bertholdt, Reiner, Annie, and Ymir can all turn into Titans, when at one point, we all perceived the Titans as mere monsters. When you can empathize with a monster, they are less terrifying. You see them as less of something that needs to be hunted down and slain, and more of something that holds a lot of internal pain and has another story to tell us. The only question is, "Who will listen to that story?"

Erwin is my favorite character bar none. He is the literal incarnation of Great leadership. The man is a competent strategist, leads from the front, and wields a determination that rivals the likes of Eren's.
