Jean wasn’t trying to be a dick to eren at the end there. He wants to know if he can truly trust eren as the hope for humanity going forward and if he can trust eren then he will work with him and follow him to the end. This is massive character development episode for Jean because at the start he wanted to join the military police and have an easy life and him and eren were rivals. Now though he feels guilty over the death of his best friend Marco and is determined to fight the titans in his honour and become friends with eren. Jean is a truly great character
