I'm late to the party with it, but i just joined and absolutely love yall's reaction videos. Not sure if you ever got the question answered: Salt pills were taken to help you retain water and stay hydrated, rather than sweating.

Great reaction guys! When the Army conducted landings they mainly used what they call a Higgins boat. It's what you saw on D-Day in Saving Private Ryan. They only go ship to shore. The problem with landings in the Pacific was the reefs. The Higgins boats would get stuck hundreds of yards off shore and rip the bottoms out of the wooden hulls. The Marines would have to wade ashore under heavy fire. Very deadly. The Marines quickly deployed the LVT4 (Landing Vehicle Tracked). These amphibious tanks could take the Marines from the ship all the way to the beach and even support them a little way inland. Their armor was pretty thin so they could get knocked out pretty easily. We use a much more modern version today. Same concept though.
