As Americans, we fought the war in the Pacific before we really got involved in Europe and North Africa versus Germany. The attack by Japan on Hawaii is what dragged us into the war finally and so they were our first focus. We didn't even declare war on Germany and other Axis powers in Europe. They shot themselves in the foot by declaring war on us because their ally Japan declared war on us. We likely still would've fought in Europe, but probably not as soon as we did, had Germany not declared war on us. Think we were fighting in the Pacific 2-3 years before we really got involved fighting Germans on land in Europe.

This show definitely gives you more of a look at the humanity of war, or lack of humanity of war, compared to in Band of Brothers. Different type of warfare, versus a very different kind of enemy, one that didn't surrender because it was looked at as disgraceful to surrender back in Japan at the time. Can't wait to see what you think of some of the future episodes!

The battle of Guadalcanal started in Aug 1942. That's less than 9 months after Pearl Harbor. President Roosevelt demanded we get into the fight. This show starts nearly 2 years before D-Day in France. Love your channel guys. Thanks again for your shout out to our service men and women.

i love this show, but starting episode 7 it'll get hard. PS Playtone is the production company of Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman who also worked on BoB

personal little feedback on the sync of the videos. could you please delay your "face" video a second or two, to the movie. Sometimes you react to something in the movie that is only shown a second or 2 later, makes the reaction a bit weird.

The war in the pacific was happening at the same time as the war in Europe. US Army was in Europe fighting Nazis while the US Marines were in the Pacific fighting the Japanese. Also, the Pacific theater was an exercise of vengeance. There were a lot of Marines who died in Hawaii along with the Navy. So the harsh rhetoric and aggression toward the Japanese was just a sign of times. At that time, Pearl Harbor was the worst attack on America since the Revolutionary War. The Marines who are infamously known as "Devil Dogs" were the response to that.
