Hey guys love your content. Started watching GOT with yall episode 1 on youtube but this is maybe my favorite show of all time. Not sure if you guys were made aware but this is a true story based on actual memoirs as well as a book by Stephen Ambrose called Band of Brothers. The old men you see in the beginning are the actual men who are being portrayed in the show. Winters, Sobel, Guarnere, Toye, Muck, Lipton, etc. are all real people and their stories in the show are quite accurate to what actually happened since it came straight from them in most cases. Also since you guys don't seem to know a ton about the military, the show follows a Company of soldiers (Easy), which is only 140 men. The company was then broken up into 3 rifle platoons and a headquarters section. Each platoon had 3 rifle squads of 12 men each and a 6 man mortar crew, along with a 30 cal. machinegun. Also, in general, the ranks from lowest to highest are Private > Corporal > Seargent (many different ranks of Sergeant) > 2nd Lieutenant > 1st Lieutenant > Captain > Major > Lieutenant Colonel > Colonel > Then Generals that go from 1 star to 5. Dwight Eisenhower, who was quoted at the end of the show and later became President of the US, was the last 5 star General in the history of the US armed forces. A Company is generally led by a 1st lieutenant or Captain (like Sobel), a platoon is led by a 2nd or 1st lieutenant (like Winters) and squads are led by Sergeants, like the men who committed mutiny during this episode by saying they wouldn't serve under Sobel.

4-F is a classification used by the selective service, if someone is 4-F that means they are unfit for service as opposed to someone who is 1-A which means they are fit for unrestricted service.

I love your honest reactions! BTW When they refer to 1A and 4F they are referring to enlistment codes. A 1A means you are fit for service. A 4F means disqualified. Usually because of a medical condition. Back then to get a 4F was the worst thing that could happen to a young man.
