Walt is such an enormous nerdy square, and everyone knows it, that it wouldn’t even enter Hanks mind. He barely could go along with him smoking a little weed

Walt is supposedly doing this for his family, but all he's done so far is lie to them and put them through the emotional ringer with his frequent disappearances. Maybe not what he intended, but far from a positive development. One of the things this show does well (The Boys does this also) is it will force you to look at characters from different perspectives than where you started with them as the show progresses. I hope at some point you guys will be able to watch the X-Files. It was the show where Vince Gilligan first made a name for himself as a screenwriter. It's a very different show than Breaking Bad, but it was a pop culture phenomenon during its run and continues to have a devoted fanbase. It was also appearances in the show by Cranston, Aaron Paul and Dean Norris that played a part in Gilligan casting them later in Breaking Bad.

You guys may know this already, but a fun breaking bad fact is that this is the only season that was planned start to finish. Every other season was written organically on the fly, which is seriously impressive considering the quality only goes up and up from here. They just loved to write characters into corners with no initial idea of how to get them out
