Art Tip: Hand Sketches (Patreon)

Hi everyone,

Here's some hand reference sketches I made. When drawing a hand I think it's helpful to keep the main block shape of the palm in mind. I've always found connecting the wrist to the hand naturally difficult as well, but I recently picked up on how the wrist connects to the back of the hand in a way that sort of overlaps it. It's also helpful to keep in mind how the first thumb bone kind of sticks out. It's a small detail I think most people overlook when they're starting.
