Hi everyone,

Here's a follow-up art tip on last week's tip about character height. I use these proportion guides for most characters but I have Poste as an example. The 7-head proportion guide is something commonly used by artists. I remember learning this from a book about drawing fantasy characters back in high school. I think it's a good way to start learning but it's okay to break the "rules" when designing characters. I can save it for a future art tip, but when I draw Ivy I'll sometimes draw her legs just a little bit longer to make her taller and more leggy for full body shots.

Hope that helps!

Question? Does the head height vary by character (example being Poste being 6 heads tall measured by her own head and Ivy being measuredby her own) or the size of an average head size?

I keep them around the same size. It doesn't have to be exact. These are just ballpark guidelines.

Good stuff. I appreciate the hightlights and how they establish volume. Thanks Thanks Thanks!
