Behind-the-Scenes Jan 2023 Week 3: Part 2 (Patreon)

Hi Deluxe Everyone.

Here's updated WIPs for this week's artwork.

1. Ivy WIP: I added color and some shadows and started rendering the background. If you look closely at the background bed sheets, you'll see I left some orange colors peeking through. The colors felt a little unbalanced with all the warm tones being isolated on Ivy's skin and cool tones on the background. Leaving some of those warm orange colors peeking through the blue sheets adds a little balance I think. I'm going to add some rose petals scattered on the bed to make the painting feel a little more romantic and add a little more balance to the colors overall. I can make a few easy alts for this one too.

2. Delivery Bunnies WIP. I added base colors to both Del and Poste, and started the shadows. You might notice that Del's shadows are purple and Poste's are gray. I'm trying a new method for adding shadow values. It involves a few layers to control value, saturation, and hue. Del has that method applied at this stage, but Poste does not yet. For the artists in the room, this is an example of the difference adding color to shadows can make.

That's all I have for today, let me know what you think. I will have the Ivy Animation ready for tomorrow. Once I finish these artworks this week, I'll begin the Tsunade artwork and one more Ivy artwork for Ivy Month. If I have some extra time, I'll either start a new animation or work on a comic. I'm thinking of starting a new Poste animation, but we'll see what I come up with later.
