Luffy’s Love

It was Usopp that raised the question, was Luffy capable of loving someone. He seemed innocent, naive, kinda dumb, but the boy had good instincts and he had a past. Luffy’s love was for his crew, to those that wanted it.  

Chapter 1 The Question

Their captain was an odd one, he was strong, stretchy, and a big dreamer. He lived for adventure, the joy of exploring, he lived by his own rules forged by a past his crew didn’t really ask him about. The one story he told was about his treasured hat and the man who saved his life. Shanks was a big influence on Luffy, how to be a pirate, how to be a man.  

The boy would fight and die for them, to protect their dreams, but he would honor their decisions. He had his own sense of honor when it came to things like duels between men. One thing that was clear Luffy cared about them, they were his precious nakama. Luffy cared for them, no matter their past, he didn’t care about things like that...well he cared but to him it wasn’t a matter if he saw you as nakama or not. If you wanted to talk about your past, openly then Luffy would listen because he thinks your interesting. If Luffy liked something it held his focus.  

He led them through the East Blue, took down Alvida, Axe Hand Morgan, Buggy the Clown, Don Krieg, and even Arlong. They even managed to escape Loguetown and Smoker, though it was a very close call. Sanji and Zoro almost lost their captain, it was something they kept with them, and didn’t want to burden Nami and Usopp with it.  

Buggy had come back for revenge, and caught Luffy in a trap where the Pirate King had been executed. Sanji and Zoro fought their way to the execution platform. Luffy smiled as the blade came down. “Zoro, Sanji, Usopp, Nami...sorry I’m dead!” He was saved by lightning striking, destroying the execution platform and leaving Buggy a scorched mess. Luffy picked up his hat still smiling. “Hey I’m alive, that’s nice!” they escaped and headed for their adventure. 

Luffy wanted to be King of the Pirates, Zoro wanted to be the world’s Strongest Swordsman, Nami wanted to draw a map of the world and find lots of treasure, Usopp wanted to be a brave man of the sea, and Sanji wanted to find the All Blue. They made a pledge as nakama they would chase their dreams together.  

They had made it into the Grand Line and met Laboon, who Luffy fought at first, but after learning why he was waiting and attacking the Red Line, he made friends with the giant Island Whale. Luffy’s kindness was really something sometimes...though it did get them into trouble. Luffy saved a princess sure, but also got them as targets for a warlord. He gets a bounty and he’s overjoyed, despite the extra heat that it put on the others.  

It was when they were sailing to Little Garden, they had received some mail. Sanji and Usopp got excited as an adult magazine was in the batch. They held it tight, blushing as they broke the seal. “You guys are idiots.” Zoro scolds, he was trying to nap and the two invaded his nap space.

“You just don’t appreciate the finer things.” Usopp says. Zoro rolled his eyes, this is how they got suckered in at Whiskey Peak, if not for him and Nami, and Luffy kinda they’d have been easy prey for the bounty hunters. They opened it up and took in the bountiful beauties inside. “What are you guys doing?” They helped and quickly tried to hide it, fearing it was Nami.  

“Oh it’s just Luffy,” they breathed a sigh of relief.  

“What are you guys doing?” Luffy asked again.

Sanji and Usopp tossed an arm around him, and brought him into a huddle. “We got something good in the mail today.”  

“Something good?” Zoro gave the two a look, he wasn’t sure about this. He didn’t know how Luffy was gonna react to an adult magazine.  

“Look!” Usopp showed Luffy, and Sanji chuckled.  

“Oh its porn,” Luffy says so matter of factly it shocked the two. There was a heavy silence before the rubber boy stood up. “Hey Zoro, do you wanna train or something?”  

“Oh uh, sure Luffy.” The boy grins.  

“Yay!” he runs off to wait for Zoro.  

“I can’t believe Luffy knows what porn is!” Usopp says.  

“Me either, he hasn’t shown an interest in girls, or even guys really.” Sanji says.  

“It’s none of our business.” Zoro points out.  

“But aren’t you curious?” Usopp asks. The two raise a brow at him. “I mean it’s Luffy, we never see him or hear him in any alone time activities. Do you think he’s even capable of loving someone like that?” The question was an odd one, but stroked the curiosity of the two. Luffy cared, Luffy liked, and he said he loved, but did he mean like this.  

It was hard to imagine Luffy having sex with someone, though the image came to mind making Zoro blush and Sanji mentally slap himself. They couldn’t stop thinking about it either, and it led to more questions. Would he be a gentle lover, an aggressive love, would he know about foreplay or would he go right for the action, is he little or is he big, would he use his devil fruit?! They showered separately, and Nami would beat some ass if any of them walked around naked.  

Zoro found himself checking out his captain on more than one occasion, he knew Luffy was special to him. Had saved his life, honored his duel to Mihawk, and he became a pirate for Luffy, swore his loyalty to follow this rubbery idiot to hell and back. Did that mean love? He didn’t know, as far as he could remember he’s never really been in love, he was on a quest for strength. He knew he didn’t love Kuina that was a rivalry that ended before it could properly conclude. The question of, Did he love Luffy? He couldn’t say, but he knew one thing when Luffy almost died in Loguetown Zoro felt his heart ache, the memory of it pained him and he’d had a nightmare or two when Luffy didn’t make it his head falling before Zoro. He’d wake up and search for Luffy and find comfort in the sleeping boy’s face. After Usopp’s question he started having different dreams, ones that had his little swordsman stand at attention. Regardless, since he didn’t know his own feelings he had no business rocking the boat. Lust wasn’t exactly love, you could find someone attractive but not be in love with them. He’s been with Luffy the longest, spent a lot of time with him, and he knew the stories of men finding pleasure in each other when alone on the sea for long periods of time. As tempting as that was, with Luffy he felt there should be something more.

Sanji found himself thinking about it a little more than he thought he would. Sure he was a man who loved the ladies, but that didn’t mean that was all he was. For a time he had given up on his dream to repay his debt, but Luffy burst through his stubbornness and not only protected his savior and treasure he peeled back the bullshit and Sanji found the strength to chase his dreams again. Luffy wanted him, and he was just as stubborn as Sanji was, maybe more so. Even when the other cooks tried to chase him out Luffy refused, he wanted Sanji to join him. As much as he loved treating Nami, Luffy bottomless stomach was a challenge to satisfy, but a fun one. He’s had many fantasies having sex with ladies, but now his mind was trying to picture Luffy having sex, and he didn’t like thinking about Luffy having sex with ladies so he often made a substitute. The blonde hadn’t thought of being with a guy before, but he knew about sex and a key to all good sex was foreplay. He also didn’t know if Luffy would know that or if he’d have to teach him, would he be a natural going by instinct and his partner’s cries or would he take direction. It might be fun to teach him, for Luffy to use him as he learned about sex.  Zeff had told him not to get to hung up on small things when it came to people, when one life meets another life something will be born. A man could chase skirts all his life, and then meet the one person that has him feeling something different something new. He didn’t know if Luffy was that person or not, he knew that Luffy was special and he didn’t want to hurt Luffy by flip flopping his feelings. If he wanted to pursue the rubber man of course. One thing he knew, when Luffy almost died it hurt him, and it wasn’t the first time, as much if not more so if Nami was put in the same position.  

A shared thought was shared between them, even if they had feelings for Luffy, would he be able to love them back in the same way?

Taking Vivi to Alabasta wasn’t super simple. Nami gets sick, they get a doctor, they reach the Dessert Kingdom and meet Luffy’s brother. Fight to bring down Baroque Works, and after pushing their limits they relax at the palace and things happen.
