Vampire Inc
Shaggy is a half vampire, he’s been keeping his secret but one thing leads to another. The supernatural world wishes to stay in the shadows, so there are rules. Fred has two choices, become Shaggy’s thrall or have his memory wiped. As his thrall he must follow Shaggy into the supernatural world.

Chapter 1

Shaggy “Norvell” Rogers came from a rather strange family, some of which has connections to Dracula himself. His daughter even called him Uncle Shaggy.

There were signs, his inhuman appetite was because while vamps could eat food, they had to eat three times as much as a normal human. Even as a half vampire, his appetite was crazy. This wouldn’t be a problem if he had a thrall or a steady supply of blood.

He had enhanced strength, speed, and senses.

Shaggy didn’t want to drink blood. His family was like that, if they didn’t drink blood they could live as mostly human. All the supernatural powers seen in media did exist, all it needed was blood to activate. Drinking human blood gave a vampire their power, and drinking monster blood gave more power.

His familiar was Scooby-Doo, a talking dog. Thanks to his collar no one really questioned the existence of a talking dog. Only those that were tied in the shadows, would notice. It was a handy trick.

This also meant Shaggy knew the truth about monsters and magic, goblins and ghosts. His friends were always chasing mysteries, or maybe they were drawn to them. Shaggy wanted to keep them from real danger.

Velma was a non-believer always looking for a logical and science explanation to anything they came across. With her smarts she’d make a good hunter if she believed. Her ability to research and analyze would make her a threat to even the most skilled of sorcerers and powerful creatures.

Daphne was a believer, she was often looking for proof of magic and monsters, only to find bad guys in masks. Her family was known for being a tad accident prone, so it was no surprise Daphne had gotten close to real magic and real danger. If not for Shaggy and Scooby she’d have gotten caught in a whole mess of trouble.

Fred was Fred, as a kid he was big into sci-fi and supernatural stuff, but gained other interests. As he got older he gained other interests, camping was one, sports and cheer-leading was another, in high school he became a total gear head. He loved to work on cars, fixing them up, upgrading them.

Shaggy had a special attachment to Fred, the blonde was the first person to make him feel...thirsty. He was able to control his thirst of course, but he had a strong urge to protect Fred. It was a dangerous game, the closer they got the more attached they became.

He had a van that Fred loved to work on, it was a classic. They got it in fine condition and used it to travel around, solving mysteries. Shaggy initially didn’t want to go, when his friends pitched the idea to him.

Haunted America, they wanted to use his van and travel all across the country visiting local haunts and investigate monster sightings. They had solved mysteries locally and had built up a reputation as meddling kids, but that was in Shaggy’s territory. He didn’t have to worry about his friends running into things that go bump in the night, because nothing went down in the shadows that he didn’t know about.

Crystal Cove was under a vampire’s territory that’s all the supernatural world needed to know, if something came through it either needed to be traveling, injured, or they were looking for trouble.

Velma was excited to travel and see the world, Daphne wanted to find a real ghost or monster. Fred thought it’d just be a fun trip for them to take together as friends. Shaggy well, when they pitched the idea to him it was a simple road trip. He was a healthy young half vamp, he could use a trip around the country stretch his wings a bit. Then the ball dropped, his friends were going looking for the supernatural. “No way!”

‘This is bad...very very bad!’ He was always playing the coward with his friends. So they thought he was just scared.

“Come on Shaggy, it’ll be fun!” Daphne said.

‘That’s not the problem.’ The supernatural world had rules, most of the creatures in the dark wanted to stay in the dark. Rules to protect both sides, if a monster broke the rules they were open game for hunters or the Order. If humans went looking for the supernatural they would be considered fair game.

As a vampire even a half...actually more so. Vampires were held to higher standards because they helped keep the balance, between the natural and supernatural. If a vampire’s identity was revealed, they could use their powers to erase the memories and carry on, or they could make the human their thrall. “Raggy…” Scooby whimpered.

If Shaggy went with them, the chances of them finding the supernatural would increase, he’d be a bad luck charm in that sense. If he didn’t go with them, the chances of them finding something was smaller, but they’d also be unprotected. If he protected them, he could keep them safe and in the dark, but he’d also be putting himself at risk of being caught.

Since he’s known the gang he’s been able to keep his identity as a half vampire a secret. On the road….he was essentially a half starved vampire with no greater powers or authority. For a half vampire he wouldn’t be able to get away with just erasing a few memories and carrying on, he’d have to leave remove his existence completely. Shaggy’s powers weren’t as strong as a full vamp, even more so as he didn’t feed. ‘If I’m caught I’ll have to disappear. I’ll never be able to see them again.’

Scooby knew and felt for his master. “Shaggy there’s nothing to be scared of monsters aren’t even real.” If she only knew.

“Girls why don’t you let me talk to Shag alone for a bit.”

Velma shrugged. “Okay…”

Daphne didn’t know why but relented and the two went down stairs. Knock knock! “Shaggy, can I come in?”

Scooby looked to Shaggy who nodded. The familiar opened the door and let the blonde in. Shaggy was “hiding” under his covers. “Look Shag, I know you’re scared, but this trip is really important. I want us all to spend time together, it wouldn’t be the same without you.”

Shaggy chewed on his bottom lip, it was hard for him to say no to Fred, seriously anyway. “I’ll be there, so if you get scared you can hold my hand okay?”

Fuck that got him. “Okay…”

“Okay?”

“Yeah, okay.” He got out of bed and Fred hugged him.

“Thanks Shag, you won’t regret this.” The Dhampir blushed, being so close to Fred made his thirst grow.

‘I hope not!’

So Mystery Inc was off.

-x-The Case of the Mystery -x-

The gang had traveled town to town, city to city, sometimes they stayed at motels, or stayed in the van. They made good time as Shaggy was able to drive through the night.

Mystery Inc were like magnets for the strange, creepy, and spooky. Everywhere they went they seemed to stumble across so bozo in a mask trying to scare people off either for a property scheme, after some hidden treasure, or for some other criminal act. They were chasing stories of monster sightings.

The town they were heading to was having issues with robberies. Whoever it was, was wearing a monster costume, he was breaking into businesses and stealing the money. Cops had tried to chase them but they escaped police pursuit by jumping from the street to the roof in a single bound. “What would monsters want with money?” Velma asked, believing this was just another hoax.

‘Actually a few, if a monster is taking territory in the human world they needed human currency to establish themselves.’ The Order often supplied funds for monsters, but there were always those that felt they didn’t need the order to live or survive.

A local legend spoke of a Ghoul, if disturbed it is said it won’t rest until it takes what it’s owed with interest. “A ghoul? That sounds so cool!” Daphne gushed.

‘They really aren’t.’ Shaggy frowned. Among all the blood drinkers Ghoul’s were the most ravenous, their hunger was near insatiable they’d drain their prey dry. Ghoul’s would go into hibernation as a way to stave off their hunger.

While Velma, Daphne, and Freddy were looking for clues for the mystery thief, Shaggy and Scooby were looking for supernatural clues. Much to his horror, there were signs of a ghoul nearby. ‘We need to catch that guy fast, before the Ghoul catches him.’

They found the thief’s loot stash, and planned to set a trap. It didn’t work, and the phony ghoul slipped away. He made it out of the cemetary and made it to a safe house in the woods, he was getting his get away bag ready. “Curse those meddling kids, all my hard work wasted.” He pulled off his mask.

Hard work...you who wear my form as a form of disguise. Outside of the hollowed eve, you dare to mock me.” Red eyes peered at him from the dark.

“Who is there?” The man pulled out a knife.

Even those claws are just for show, you truly insult me.” He flexed his claws. This man was dead and he didn’t even know it. “Try playing monster...now meet a real one!”

The man twisted round and round, unable to see anything. A knock came to his safe house door and the guy backed up. Claws slipped from the darkness, reaching out and quickly grabbing the man. In seconds he was dead, ripped apart by the ghoul and his blood was feasted upon, the room became drenched in blood. His screams were reduced to choked gurgles, then to whimpers, before there was just the sound of crunching and breaking bones.

Victims of a ghoul suffered heavily, while their death may seemed quick, their agony lasted along time.

The door opened and in walked Shaggy and Scooby. “Dhampir?!” The ghoul hissed, clutching the man’s severed arm. “This is my catch my prey, get back!”

Shaggy raised his hand. “I have no interest in your...prey.”

Lies!” A bloody claw was pointed at Shaggy. “I smell no blood on you, I sense your hunger!”

“I’m here as a courtesy, that man broke the rules, he became prey. I’m traveling and will be leaving soon. This man was a criminal, simply contact the Order and have a clean up crew come and help this matter get settled.”

The Ghoul growled. “Filthy half blood, trying to tell me what to do, arrogant vampire blood!” He muttered.

Hold your tongue!” Scooby spoke in his true voice. The Ghoul hissed at him.

“If you contact the order I’ll be able to leave your territory and leave you to your business. If you don’t I’ll contact the Order and make it clear you refused to handle your business.”

The ghoul clicked it’s tongue, the wheels in his head were turning. “Fine…”

Shaggy turned his back on the ghoul, but Scooby kept his eyes trained the monster, not turning his back until Shaggy was outside the building. They left and the Ghoul finished his meal, but he wasn’t pleased with Shaggy.

The gang went to a local diner to eat. The money was turned over to the police and after processing it’d be returned to the businesses. “Dang he got away.” Velma wasn’t happy.

“Hey guys we got the money back, that’s good right?” Shaggy offered.

“Reah!” Scooby said.

“Guess the guy wasn’t a real ghoul after all.” The police had been called and they got finger prints. They identified him as a crook, the suit he was using was giving him the inhuman abilities. So the case was “solved” the police planned to track him down and arrest him.

Shaggy knew if the order got involved the case would be closed. They had their ways for dealing with crimes and disappearances, the case would be closed so long as the Ghoul did it’s job.

“We stopped the bad guy I’d call it a win.” Fred said and got up from the table. “I’m gonna use the washroom, I’ll be back!” He walked off, heading to the back where the bathrooms were.

Freddy paused when he noticed the emergency exit was opened. Unable to help himself he went to investigate. The Ghoul was shifting around, moving slow enough to allow Fred think he was the thief. “Gang!” Fred called, but as soon as he turned the Ghoul struck.

Scooby’s ear twitched. “Raggy!” The two got up and went to check on Fred, finding the door open and Fred’s ascot left on the ground.
