With normal settings, the skins in VAM can look a bit gray and not very alive. There are better skins that make the characters look better, lighting setups that sometime help too, and of course the awesome subsurface scattering plugin by HuntTingSuccuBus. 

Here's a different thing that's can add more color to the models and it works with all of the above: using Bloom for MacGruber's PostMagic plugin with settings similar to this image



Changing Intensity will make the white be emphasized more, Radius will make the glow bigger or smaller and Treshold is the brightness at which the colors start glowing, lower treshold means almost all colors will glow, higher treshold means only very light colors will glow.


If you combine it with the LUT script from PostMagic you can get very interesting results really quick and get the models to look a bit more interesting:
