i have read the manhwa and they have added a lot of stuff which was not in the manhwa like those character introductions of various characters they probably are planning on brushing up the story a bit which is proving to be a good movie looking at this episode.

I read the Light novel before it was a Manhwa and then read the full Manhwa as well. I am super exited to see what they do with the anime now! The enjoy the story the best from the light novel but the art work makes up for what little changes they had in the Manhwa. One of the best looking ones I've read to date. I can't wait to see how the voice acting and animation is for the rest of season one here.

So far, I have seen 6 new anime this week, and this is how I rank them: 6. Gushing Over Magical Girls Magical girl trope with a pretty interesting and hilarious, NSFW storyline. 5. Delicious in Dungeon Fantasy adventure trope that is a mix between D&D and Food Wars. 4. The Wrong Way To Use Healing Magic Isakei that has interesting characters that will either be amazing or terrible as the series continues. 3. Chained Soldier Kinda similar to Solo Leveling in that people (hot girls) fight monsters in another dimension. Again, could go either way. 2. The Unwanted Undead Adventurer Again, similar to Solo Leveling in that it's a story about an adventurer who pretty much sucks. I'll say nothing more because the first episode was pretty good. 1. Solo Leveling 2024 looks to be shaping up to be a decent anime year.

I Am a fan of the novel and manga, the animation is good, but I thought it will be better (ufotable level). I think they should have done a first episode of 1 hour long or release the first 2 episodes together, that would have been more attracting, I believe, like the first EP of Re:Zero. Overall, I will enjoy this series and you sure will do it too.

I liked this set up better in Undernauts: Labyrinth of Yomi. Liked the art better, too. I liked the statues coming to life and killing everyone better when it was called Gantz. Which hell, Luke would like Gantz. That's plenty Gorey. From my understanding this was one of those web novels with GREAT art that was very pretty. I picked it up in novel form, no pictures at all. The plot was awful. Like a Michael Bay movie.

In the source material it goes deeper into what you can find in those portals, but they're essentially like dungeons in a game. There are sometimes random equipment that you can pick up and sell to people who can use it. Everyone has a different set of skills so different equipment works for different people, just like classes in a game

to your question regarding clothing, without bringing in spoilers: in any videogame, you have your basic starting equipment, right? that'd be a jeans and a hoodie in the modern day. then you go on your adventure and find some rare armor with resistances, buffs, etc. or you make enough gold to buy them from a vendor. if this is a low-rank dungeon, run by low-rank hunters, they probably don't have the money to buy anything, and haven't found anything good.

If the rest of the show keep this budget, I will be happy. If they don't animate properly certain creatures then that will be disappointing. After watching new anime weekly since 2012 I can tell that something changed in the last 2 years. Studios started to pour all the budget in the first 3 episodes. I will throw some names: shangri la frontier and undead unluck are actually victims of this treatment. I watched these shows and they start at 100% then drop to 30-50%(and only go certain episodes 100%). So I pray the budget is there because the 3 episode rule can't be used anymore since studios learned about this rule and hook people by going all in first 3 eps hooking people, and even if the quality drop later on, not that many quit the series after 3eps.

The show is really gonna depend on how consistent and good the art and animation stays. A lot of the hype moments in the show comes from the action scenes and the plot is super enjoyable and easy to digest. It’s not really super original but the execution of plot elements are very satisfying. Really hoping they keep the episode 1 consistency throughout the whole show. It will be an easy recommendation

I'm thoroughly impressed with episode 1 - I pretty much only have a few nitpickings with the episode, but nothing that takes away from the episode. Art, voice actors, and sound design is on point. Loved the sound Cha Hae-in made when she zoomed the F out of that crowed like a jet plane.

its a good start i think but my view is always gonna be tainted because ive already read it i tend to mix mediums in my head so even if they do something funky in the animation i fill in the blanks with previous knowledge that being said i feel like its off to a great start but I also feel like I know exactly where its gonna end

The ep seems normal to me, if the hype was not there I would’ve rated it higher but with the expectation high, it sorta feel flat… as for the Korean names…. I now know how Luke feels not remembering any names, coz none of the name stuck with me after I finish the episode lol. Not used to watch any korean shows so all the names are so foreign….. controversial stance but if the name were Japanese (or even English) I might’ve had a better time….

No spoiler in what comes next : I so much like how the anime did adapt the novel. Both in the manga and novel we aren't introduced to the S rank hunters nor the president of the hunter association, at the beginning. And this new 3 years earlier flashback added, is so much good to see when you know all these characters ! And there is even a new character we never saw before in this flashback because we only spoke about him in the past, but never see him in present time. And it's good to know him now. I don't know about people who want a better animation, this is well enough animated to me, and more importantly : it's giving the right feeling we felt when reading the novel. So perfect to me. I'm just disapointed in one inconsistency : all the statues need to be a bit smaller (still taller than human), except for the big one, who needs to be much taller (around 50m tall in total, this is far from it !)

I started the manhwa this holiday so I know how this dungeon ends and for 1st episode I am in! I just hope the art and storytelling quality will be consistent in rest of the episodes. I just hope it won't end like Noblesse adaptation (weird pacing, rushed).

i haven't read the mahnwa, so i´m going into this anime as blind as Luke. I believe that they are dressed up like that due to the magical resources they gather from behind the portals, that is able to be processed into magic weapons and armor. Maybe they´re just following the standard RPG-tropes with the design, but to some extent, it may be functional to their abilities, crafted from the dungeon's resources. So yeah, i guess it´s a bit of both, functional equipment AND a certain amount of "RPG-sense" from the people (they may just be otakus after all^^). "Conventional weapons" are literally what you would expect and find in the real world. Guns, Swords, Knives, Bows etc made from materials of our world without any special properties. Equipment crafted from dungeon-materials however has magical properties (even the knife Jinwoo uses does have magical power, but he couldn´t afford a high-quality one, so his one has very low magical properties and as result broke in the fight) that people with magic power can utilize.

Tbh, I found this first ep just okay. It's déjà-vu, the writing isn't really good and the animation is far from A-1's best work (86, Lycoris Recoil for example). 15 secs of animation of Frieren are waaay more qualitative than the whole episode. It's not that bad, but it's pretty disappointing given the crazy hype surrounding Solo Leveling. If the overall quality doesn't rise quickly, I'll probably drop the anime. Besides, I'm afraid I already understand what kind of anime it is.

I have finished reading the manhwa. It is great. I loved it. This first episode without a doubt lived up to the hype. I was VERY hupe for this. And I VERY much enjoyed this first episode. I will not spoil for anyone because that's fucked. But definitely expect a lot from this if A-1 Pictures (the studio) sticks true to the manhwa.

Interesting Fact: "Solo Leveling" is the fan-created english title. "I alone level up" is actually a more accurate translation of the Korean title, which is what you'd look for to find "official" manhwa translation. This is only important as it is a bit less vague a title than "Solo leveling" which after you know the other title, now makes more sense as well.

To me, the animation quality is quite good, especially comparing to other ongoings. The story is actually nice if you like Xianxia (cultivation) genre. But at some point, main protagonist may seem like he is Marty Sue. Main character development in manhwa is pretty solid imo. So, i dont recommend to drop it at least until denouement of the series.

5:35 There IS an anime ( actually, western animation) of Starship Troopers. It's release was a mess* but the series was almost pretty good. I can't say it was pretty good because they ran out of money and the last 3 episodes - which had been shaping up to BANGERS - were clip shows. But, overall, I liked it. *they were supposed to release 5 episodes a week... got too far behind on production and the TV stations kept showing the same 3 or 4 episodes over and over. Like I said, it was a MESS. 14:02 If you didn't pause while you asked questions, you would get the answer before you finished the question! How did I feel. Didn't like it as much as YOU but I still felt it was a solid first episode. Perhaps too much exposition - for example, there's no reason the executive hunter would have needed to explain the basics of gems to some high-ranking underling who already knew all about. I mean, these gates have been opening for a DECADE. That was knowledge we needed to know but the forced exposition was annoying.

My comment is literally a copy pasted cited paragraph from the wiki on the history of the story. Even left the cited mark ([1]). As I said, after Fan translators translated it unofficially as Solo Levling, Yen Press picked up the rights and ran with the fan translated title rather than the actual original title of the WN.
