fun fact: you can see the anime figurines and posters subaru had in his previous life and they all ressemble emilia (most notably silver hair) wich is pretty funny to think about

I never thought about a VOW between subaru and satella. It would explain why he has the power and why satella is so focused on him. That would mean that subaru met satella first, they developed some kind of relationship and then made a vow (maybe to protect emilia bcs she is important for satella). The question is how he ended up in the city but i do have an idea for that reason as well. So far the theory would fit all the information we have.

Loved Subaru’s indifference towards the witch of greed and how he could care less that she proclaims to be a highly sought after & powerful witch. I believe if we, put our modern selves in Subaru’s situation, we wouldn’t take this mystical stuff seriously either.

The tea contained the witch factor of Sloth, Echidna just got it to its newly chosen home in Subaru. Access to the trial was the "souvenir" that Echidna said she would give him when he chose to leave. He is only approved because Echidna said so.

Man I love this reactions, you don't realize the awesomeness of some things you say Luke 🤣 As for the Trial: Emilia has the right to enter because she has mixed blood (half-elf). Subaru is only permitted to enter because Echidna granted him permission as a "parting gift" when she sent him back. The tea contained the Sloth Witch factor to strengthen his resistance, whatever that means 🤐

ik this comment won't be read cuz you record in advance but in anime "seasons" don't work usually like serials. You already watched "attack on titan". It had 4 seasons. and no season felt like something new, just continuation. Same for re:zero

Btw, little funfact: While it was airing, the studio bought up ad slots of the japanese tv channels so they could make the second season longer since they couldnt compress all the infos that you will receive, thats also the reason why the first opening of season 2 will rarely actually play in an episode. Oh, I also recommend you highly to check out the opening after the first part of season 2 again, the meaning behind the visuals is insane.

Subaru inherited the Sloth witch factor when he defeated Petelgeuse. It is this that allowed him to enter the graveyard and meet Echidna in the first place. Apparently witch factors can be inherited. The tea Echidna gave Subaru strengthened him because apparently she used the Sloth witch factor on it (which Subaru had anyway - so I don't know how that worked). Echidna then bestowed on Subaru the right to participate in the trial of the Sanctuary which is why he could enter after Emilia.

Fun fact: This arc in the original web novel was over 1 million words long. The light novel adaptation, according to my knowledge, was around 500k words, spread over 6 volumes. For reference, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (so excluding The Hobbit) is 480k words long

In all fairness to Otto, he never technically killed Subaru. All he did was push Subaru out of the cart and, if you'll recall, the whale didn't kill him that time, Puck did when he got into the mansion (when he first saw all the cult members frozen in the dungeon). Honestly, LNs and WNs underrated af. The same goes not only to Re: Zero but such titles as Sword Art Online, Overlord and So I'm a Spider, So What? It's just so uncomparable to anime, it's funny (even though I like anime with these titles)

He kinda did but she didn't know. (Sort of spoilerish? The anime doesn't really explain the following) Long story short Echidna knows nothing that's happening outside her tomb, tho she can pry into the memories of the people that visit her. In the LNs Subaru asked her specifically about the Archbishops but she didn't know about them, and Subaru inferred she wouldn't know of a way to save Rem. Subaru was more worried about Emilia than interested in learning about dead witches, so he just left.
