Well, we know there are multiple witches, and we also encountered people from the witches' cult corresponding to different deadly sins (the arcbishops, aka Betelgeuse (Sloth) Lye Batenkaitos (Gluttony) and Regulus Corneas (Greed)) . We learned the name of the Witch of Envy in the first episode (Satella), and now we got introduced to the Witch of Greed (Echidna), so until now, there should be 5 more witches existing going by that logic. However: in the commonfolk, only the Witch of Greed (Satella) is well known afaik. I don´t exactly remember how much the witches got explained before, so that should be it for the part directly related to the show. Now for a not directly related note on the deadly sins: while the most commonly and established interpretation of the deadly sins would be Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride, in western christianity, they were translated differently from latin, giving us the deadly sins of Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, wrath, pride and sorrow/despair, as well as an additional sins of vainglory and acedia (which then later was combined into sloth and pride by Pope Gregory). in greek mythology, "Acedia" or "the neglect to take care of something that one should do" was considered a seperate deadly sin, which also was "combined" into sloth by Pope Gregory. Vainglory also has initially been a deadly sin, but it also got "combined" with pride since Pope Grogory viewed it as a form of pride. So, based on the origin, there´s slight variances in what the deadly sins are, and even their number varies to some point. At least as far as i can tell from wikipedia, there´s a lot of history going on. I think i also heard something in a discussion about Persona 5, where they added an additional deadly sin into the game with the Royal version, with said deadly sin being one of the former additional cardinal sins that later got combined into the remaining seven deadly sins. If i'm not mistaken, that was relatively local to japanese mythology, though I don´t really remember right now, so depending on how the show approaches the deadly sins, there may even be more or different ones that we viewers might expect (or at least they´re referenced somewhere inbetween maybe ?!?).

Also, Subaru said that the big whale trying to eat them is attracted to him, and because of Otto's Divine Protection, the whale was messing up with his head, so you can't really blame him for pushing Subaru off the carriage.

Luke sometimes impresses me with his attention to detail, but other times he impresses me with how much he forgets from one episode to the other haha It was mentioned a few times in Season 1 that: Satella is the Witch of Envy, also known as THE WITCH, the all mighty baddie one. Echidna, the one that was just introduced, is the Witch of Greed, another sin. Also, Emilia has SILVER hair, while Echidna has WHITE hair, I know they are similar, and I don't blame anyone for thinking its the same, I'm just pointing out that it actually isn't the same haha Frederica was "introduced" in season 1, in episode 11, during Rem/Ram flashback, and you actually acknowledged her and asked yourself "who is that?!" haha

The novels go into more details about Echidna's appearance. The author is also very specific on hair color. Echidna : Human, white hair, black eyes, Witch of Greed Satella : Half-elf, silver hair, purple eyes, Witch of Envy With these you can see how Echidna isn't related to Emilia in any way.

Keep in mind, there is a difference between "Witch" and "Archbishops". So far everyone we have met have introduced themselves as Archbishops, of Sloth, Greed, and Gluttony. This here is the Witch of Greed. It's an important distinction moving forward

There's a difference between white hair and silver hair, although it's hard to tell really in the anime. Also, the reason things don't move around in the cart with the land dragons is because all land dragons have a blessing that makes for a smooth ride, pretty much. You see it effect things some times, like with betelgeuse reached for the gospel, but generally the anime doesn't talk about it much.

While we're at it: Petelguese Romani Conti - Sin Archbishop of Sloth - deceased. Lye Batenkietos - Sin Archbishop of Gluttony - Devoured Crush's memories and Rem's name. Regulus Corneas - Sin Archbishop of Greed - Killed numerous members of Crush's militia and the Iron Fang without lifting a finger. And of course there are more coming this season. We'll get to meet quite a few of them and understand just what these embodiments of sin are capable of.

If i haven't lost my count, it has been just around 1 to 2 months, since Subary arrived on that world, from all the others perspective. So, having TWO WHOLE MONTHS of rest is quite a lenghty time, given all that has been happening for Subaru lately 😅 5:13 yes, it is magic. The same magic that allows them to travel super fast without being "gushed" by the wind. Remember when they were traveling to the capital, and there was a flashback of Subaru being knocked out of the charriot because he sticked his body outside the carriage? That's why 8:56 she has been shown before, yes, on the flashback story of Ram and Rem. She was the maid that trained them both to work for Roswaal at the mansion. But it was shown very quickly, and it was easy to forget on a first watch. But when you rewatch you immediately recognize her :D

Just to try and contribute an original comment, I wanna talk about why Subaru didn't immediately connect that when Beatrice said "Juice" she meant "Petelguese" (Sloth, yes his name is spelt with a P and supposedly that's an important detail). The way his name is said in Japanese is along the lines of "Petal-Geese". If Subaru were to shorten his name, he'd say "Geuse" (pronounced "Geese"). Beatrice however, says "Juice" which is obviously different. Perhaps Japanese people don't know that we pronounce Betelgeuse as "Beetle-JUICE". Now why does Beatrice say it like that? Idk, you figure it out

To be accurate - Beatrice and Petelguese are specifically Artificial Spirits - it means they are actually very powerful and it affects the kind of contracts you can forge with them. Puck is noted as a Great Spirit which means the contracts to connect with him are different. But we can explain more when we get further in… namely as this is skipped content from Season 2, but there is a particular moment where it’s probably best to explain it.

It's not that Japanese don't know. His full name would still be shortened to Geuse in Japanese, but it's just simply a clever nickname to hide the connection from Subaru from a story perspective and that's all. Unfortunately, official translations do what they do best by ruining small details and getting them wrong every single time, as always.

Since you've seen Frozen Bonds, I can tell you the reason why Emilia calls her participation in the Royal Selection as selfish. She doesn't actually want to make an equal society, or even be ruler. She's not doing this for the kingdom, she's doing it to unfreeze the elves in Elior forest so she can go back there and live with them. This is why she thinks it's selfish. Being Queen is a huge responsibility, but it's motivated only by her own desires, not a desire to rule and guide the kingdom. In this sense it IS selfish, but it's not necessarily bad.

I think we saw a glimpse of Frederica in ova Memory Snow and I think you asked who’s that, so that’s who is it:). Btw, the infamous witch who everybody talks about is the witch of envy a.k.a. Satella (another half-elf who is said to look a lot like Emilia). The one who you just met is Echidna, the witch of greed, she even said herself that and as you saw she is not an elf or half-elf, but it’s understandable to make this confusion first time (witch + white hair, though not silver) 😄
