Scar's my favorite character in the show. He's so well-written. I just love him.

It is worth mentioning that it wasnt just "These people went against us, lets slaughter them all". We have an opening incident, which has been mentioned. This incident led to a lot of backlash from the Ishvallan population, Amestrus answered by sending a military force to put down the uprising. This forceful attempt to put down the uprising strengthened the uprising. This continued to the point where Amestrus basically went to war against the uprising. It is still incredibly horrible and the Amestrian government is definitely in the wrong, but it is not a simple move. It is worth mentioning that this has been seen more than once in history and is how things go when governments try to meet uprisings with strength. Which makes a lot of sense, as the author spent time researching this and talking to war veterans, including some who had done horrible things in the line of duty.

Not long ago, I read about a Holocaust survivor who, after WW2, planned to poison Germany's water source—an act that could have resulted in millions of casualties, mostly innocent citizens. He managed to convince a chemist to create the poison he needed and headed to Germany. Fortunately, he was stopped by one of his peers who saw it as an unforgivable crime. My point is that even though it is an awful and unjustified act, I can't bring myself to fully judge the man. Additionally, I wanted to mention that Scar's revenge in "FMAB" is quite realistic, and the discussion about the cycle of hate is too real. It remains one of my favorite concepts in the series.

JOSHUA A STERRETT

To be fair to Scar, in his agonizing and traumatized state, he didn't see two doctors trying to save his life. He didn't see two doctors at all. All he saw were two Amestrians. And Amestrians destroyed everything he loved.

JOSHUA A STERRETT

Scar's crusade is an interesting case because it shows how important motive is. Killing State Alchemists (at least those who were in Ishval) may be a just action, but that justice is removed when the executor is motivated not by justice, but by vengeance. It's why we don't allow family members of the victims to be the ones to inject the drugs for death-penalty criminals. It has to be someone unrelated to the crime and the case so that the action is one of pure justice. When vengeance enters in, it taints it into something ugly and destructive.

It is kind of interesting to see this reaction. Especially your realisation that the Amestrian country might be the bad guys in the war, because for a German speaker it is very clear since Episode 1. The leader of this country is called "Führer". While the word "Führer" is translated simply as leader, in Germany it only really means one Person. Because of that the word isn't really used anymore in Germany, so it is even more noticeable when it is used in anime.

The "Let it all out..." of the ending theme hits a little different in the context of that last scene. Phenomenal episode.

I was wondering if you can react to more episodes in a row? I see that you do that for some other animes, for example, SPY x FAMILY, Steins Gate etc. Just a suggestion because I love your reactions and can't wait for your next one! Keep it up!

I havent finished the episode yet but no, Scar didnt decide to kill two innocent people who saved his life. He decided to kill the enemy that killed his family, his people and destroyed his town. Yes, they were 100% innocent and Scar was 100% in wrong but he never decided 'Oh hey, I know they are doctors who saved many of my people and risked their life here, but they are here with the enemy so I am going to kill them', no, he woke up, realised what happened and without any thinking decided to kill the enemy troops. It was ptsd triggered by seeing their hair and eye color.

bro those are stream animes..., .-. he watches 5-6 ep on stream. On youtube he posts like 3-4 videos a day, that is already waaaaay too much + daily posts. You might watch only anime but he posts way too much, it make sense why he posts anime so little, only 30% of his audience watch anime, rest are non anime watchers. so he can't post more on youtube. But twitch is different , most fans of twitch are anime fans, which means he mainly do anime there

I just wanna say scar was delirious when he killed Whinrey's parents his entire family was just slaughter by amestrainas and he saw the rockbels and in a fight or flight response killed them

I can understand not remembering who Kimblee is as you barely seen him up this point, but how do you forget that the head of the military is one of the deadly sins. How could Amestria just go through genocide of an oppressed group of people? It’s pretty clear that the deadly sin wrath orchestrated it. We’ve seen through flashbacks that a lot of the state alchemist like Mustang and Armstrong didn’t want to do it but they were soldiers and were ordered to do so.

Emilis2023

That's one of the best episodes not to stop before the ED. Winry's tears leading right into the lyrics singing "let it all out" feels almost like that song was made with this episode in mind.

Star Wars empire took inspiration of the US, not nazi Germany

Wolfe980

classic luke to not recognize the guy from the prison

You forgot earlier where they explained the Ishvalans were killing everyone who wouldn't convert to their religion, and anyone who could use alchemy, because it's against their religion, and that's what started the war in the first place. They started a Jihad then complained when they lost. It was why episode 1 had the boys going to shut down that cult. The last cult started a civil war.

MaxValion

Pray tell what episode that was stated in. Because, as far as I remember, "killing everyone who wouldn't convert to their religion" was never mentioned. And as for killing "anyone who could use alchemy"... Did you not see this exact episode where Scar's brother was openly studying and practicing his own interpretation of alchemy? Sure, it probably was frowned upon, but not to such a degree.

TimelessOrb

Btw peeps scar hates alchemy and himself, since he is now a product of alchemy.

One of the reasons that I liked this show so much is the cool ass fight scene animation bursts. There's several later on that were super good because the whole camera movement and animation just changes for like 2-3 seconds.

Ling is the best and also voiced my my favorite EN Voice actor Todd Haberkorn. He's got one of the best voices imo for dubs.

Lu C

A country were it's leader has title of Fuhrer... Suspicious from the 1st episode... Ling... You know some people hide their realself and how others a good constructed fasade... Ling and teacher are the best 😁

Ninni

One of the things that make FMA:B great is the complexities in most of the characters. It's often not as simple as saying someone is just a "good guy" or a "bad guy" (though in some cases it is). The characters are complex and often times morally grey, some do messed up things for reasons that are... understandable though not necessarily justified.

Hououin Kyouma

You already forgot 1st episode. The guy in the prison. You even talked about him later on when he was shown just for a few seconds. About Scar: I am not trying to justify Scar killing Wenry's parents. It's obviously the wrong thing to do. However, you have to understand his state of mind after waking up in the hospital bed. His entire family was killed by these blue-eyed people and he is suffering from PTSD. He wasn't in his right mind when he killed Wenry's parents. He wasn't in a state to know whether they were trying to save him or doing something else with him. He only saw Amestrian and killed them in a blind rage. Obviously what he did is wrong but given his situation, you are judging him harshly. All the sins (except for Greed) and other bad guys are a million times worse than Scar.

Shaun since we cant listen and read hentai. Can we read yaoi and listen. (edited)

even tho im rewatching these reactions, luke watching scar's flashback and deciding he was in the wrong is still luke's craziest moment on the channel. if luke watched his wife and kids dies in front of him and was delirious from almost dying, he's saying he would thank the people he thinks killed them and go along with his day? also luke getting angry at the brother not being evil when he is the one that made that up makes me laugh lol
